This is actually really cool, He's got a bunch of color-changing panels on it. The colour scheme he's chosen is really neat, dark grey with blue metal accents, and green plastic panels.. and then these colour change glowy parts... it's awesome!

Vendor Art: ER Rubber Bear - Fourth of July 2009 by Winter Ventura |
|
|
Image description:
Well, this one came out pretty well, in spite of my messing it up.
As I've said before, the Bear vendors aren't so much works of art, as they are production work.. so they just tend to get slapped together. I didn't spend enough time looking at lighting before I snapped this one.. the brown differs somewhat dramatically from the Father's Day bear.. and yet side by side, it's the exact same texture inworld.
http://www.sluniverse.com/pics/pic.aspx?ID=378324
Honestly though, I was more concerned with getting the sparkler to capture.. and having to use a 3rd party viewer (Emerald greenlife) just to do snapshots.. it's really annoying. I'll be glad when LL fixes the snapshot bug (again)

Vendor Art: ER Military Hangar by Winter Ventura |
|
|
Image description:
This one was REALLY hard.
With buildings, there's always so many possible angles, so many details to show. If you look at buildings on Xstreet you can always see a handful of pictures for even the simplest building. But on a vendor, you get ONE chance, ONE image. Like I said, this one was hard for me. How to balance the details I wanted to show, with the space available? I think I did a pretty good job overall.
Layout is a bit odd, with the floater overlapping the inset.. but the new overhanging floating text that I started a couple of vendors back, has really helped bring this particular vendor together. and the blue "sticker" concept really helps highlight the building's dimensions. Also I created the icon for the "Unpacker". Since most buildings will be coming in unpacker crates, it's good to get a standard icon that I can use again. It's similar in some respects to the tinting cube icon used on the robot hair vendors.
All things considered, I am quite pleased with the overall presentation.

Vendor Art: ER Basic Female AO by Winter Ventura |
|
|
Image description:
I was really worried about this at first.. the issue of "how to show off an ao only using a still image" is kind of annoying. But it turned out to be really easy, and honestly it was a lot of fun. Once I had a camera angle I liked, it was simply a matter of triggering the animations and snapping pictures at the right times. Layout was simple, although the alpha textures in the hair wreaked havoc in photoshop. This was my first time using the "Colour Replace" brush, and it worked out really well. Honestly this is one of my favourite vendors to date.. simple, clean, and concise.

Vendor Art: ER Rubber Bear - Father's Day 2009 by Winter Ventura |
|
|
Image description:
I really love the bear vendors. They're a lot easier to do than the normal product vendors. Sure, it's the same template, but the text doesn't have to change, and it's just a single shot of the bear. Really a lot more fun to make. One quick snapshot, copy and paste, change a couple of words and save. Unlike the main vendors, I don't put a lot of energy into these. Just a single good shot, show off the bear.

And some signs on the walls too by Winter Ventura |

Image description:
This is really long overdue.. some section headers.
They match the layout of the map, of course.. but they help guide me in terms of where things go, or will go. Of course this is Eclectic Randomness, and eventually new categories will *HAVE* to be made.. there's no "structures" section for example.
Forever a work in progress. I can only hope.

A Map to the new ER! by Winter Ventura |
|
|
Image description:
Yesterday, a customer popped into the store, and commented that I seemed to have removed a bunch of stuff from my shop. While the space is actually smaller, it is a lot more roomy, and moving things around and making the vendors a bit smaller has really increased the amout of breathing space in the shop.
This is a good thing, but it's not good if customers thinjk their favourite items are gone!
So, I decided to add a 1:10 map to the floor of the shop. Just off the landing point, there's this map, which shows where each section is, and what's where.

ER 's new shop at Healy, open for business. by Winter Ventura |
|
|
Image description:
Well it was a fairly long and involved project, and I actually ended up a bit of work that I ended up not even needing. But the new shop is up and running, and at least so far, sales don't seem to be suffering too badly from the new layout.
People seem to pick it up pretty quickly, and they seem to be a little more brisk than before, so "getting to the item you want" is a little quicker.. that's cool. I have noticed a tendency for people to walk into the bannisters, so I may need to move the ramps. I might even manage to save a prim or two in the bargain.
Only other issue is that people are missing the freebies at the far end. Not "MISSING" them.. but not catching it on the first pass.

A little smaller.. but still really roomy by Winter Ventura |
|
|
Image description:
Okay, I was pushing the envelope with the building. It was 40x70. After doing a little bit of math, and considering the adult content stuff coming down the pike, I can see the value in having a slightly smaller, more modular shop. So it's down to 36x60.
Slightty less than HALF the group's land holdings. So if I qualify for land swap, I can slice off half my land, and give that up, in exchange for another 36x60 parcel.
I'm still not sure if this adult content stuff is going to kill me or not.. but at least this way I'm prepared if I need to burn off some land.
A little smaller.. but still r...
