Came across this ornate, but deserted city. Great care went was expended here. What could have happen that all the people abandoned this beautiful city. Could this be the great achievement of Ozymandias before its fall? Have I stepped back in time? There is a mystery here worth exploring.

The power of Depth of Field

This image and the previous shot are exactly the same picture, but with a change in the Depth of Field. Notice how the first was more intimate. The focus was on my av, but this one, my av is almost completly dismissed. Because of using Depth of Field, you look right past him and into the world outside. SL photography is fantastic.

Taking Pictures in SL

I noticed a lot of folks take pictures in SL. There are a number of elements to improve your shots. To get the best pictures, make good use of "Edit Sky Preset". Two of the most important elements are, Sun/Moon Position and East Angle. These allow you to maximize the effects and the look of shadows. The second is Depth of Field. This is under, Preferences > Graphics > Depth of Field. Compare this shot to the next. Notice how the subject of the picture changes by what is in focus. Of course I expect you are already considering things like cropping, using the rule of thirds, exposure, and color.

So which other aspects of photography do you find to be vital in getting great SL shots? Would love to hear your comments.

The textures are so detailed
