The theme has been around for decades no doubt.
The 60's they were much more subtle about it though...

The source of Good Vibrations is complicated. Mix the Wilson brothers' mom's probably offhand comment that someone gave off "good vibrations" with Brian's typically loopy translation of that into something VERY REAL and VERY IMPORTANT. Add liberal amounts of LSD, paranoia, parental abuse, and general Beach Boys evil, let Brian run amok in a studio with a huge budget while the rest of the band tours, and voila.

Mike Love, however, is one of the premier jerk offs of all time. Qu'elle douche.

If you can see them, go. I saw them in New Orleans last month and it was a fabulous performance. They even had John Stamos there to introduce them and sit in on drums.
