Frankly, its pretty clear that Jen's post on SS casts a negative light on SLU. That's clear also from seeing that at least one SS poster picks this up and makes a negative comment about SLU.

Then that thread gets linked back here.

Ok, time to be bigger than that. Individuals have posted their opinions. That's all there is so far. I only post here because I don't like keeping up with multiple forums. So I want to suggest that others posting here go on with our SLU posting as if a few opinions posted by individuals on another forum really aren't that important in the grand scheme of life.

Because they aren't.

This is too bad. Jen is a rational, yey passionate, advocate on issues she truly believes in. Her posts are well written and intelligent, even theone's I don't agree with. One can disagree with Jen on issues and never fear a dimwitted personal attack. I will miss her terribly. In many ways she served as a conscience of this forum.

I do hope she's just having a bad day and comes back.

I consider myself a long-time member of several forums, SLU and SS among others. They each have their own community of core posters, and some of those cross-over to other forums. They also each have their own character and personality, which changes over time as the populations shift and flow.

For those of us who were part of the SC community -- which includes Jen, myself, many SLU folk, and almost (but not all) SS members -- the boundaries are difficult to navigate. There is a lot of history and emotion, both good and bad, that plays into the dynamics of our cross-postings.

I've made any number of mistakes or missteps during this difficult transition, on both sides of the line. I ruffled feathers when I didn't make the distinction between what we had on SC and what was newly forming on DoD, for instance. And I lost sight of that experience when I got irritated with Coco for bringing over SLU issues to SS when we were all jumpy about rising tensions involving MadameG.

We all make these mistakes. We lose our tempers, we lose sight of the boundaries and what belongs where, and sometimes we can't even figure it out. I'm trying very hard to be more charitible about those fuzzy boundaries because I've made such a hash of maintaining them myself.

We're all part of the SL community, that's the cover umbrella. The other parts are just different rooms of the house.

I love Jen to death and think she's immeasurably insightful and interesting. I hope this is just a temporary thing and that she comes back soon.

I don't see a huge 'fuck SLU' from Jen.

She expressed the incident happened AT SLU, and that she felt unrespected overall and was taking a walk.

Alexa: so wait... you had a bad experience on SLU so you're leaving SS? Color me confuzzled.....
