hey don't fucking unplug my alarm clock

seriously cleaner person:

i understand you want to plug in the vacuum cleaner. could you maybe unplug the phone charger instead of the alarm clock to do so? that alarm clock doesn't blink when it's been unplugged, and i woke up at 8am ready to have a nice saturday. turns out it was 1:15am not 8am.

yes i realize i'm bitching about a cleaner unplugging an alarm clock, and many people will think 'i wish i had a cleaner' but ffs this threw my whole day off. yes, i realize on a scale of 1 to 10 this is a 1 in terms of life crisis. but it's MY 1; it's not brain science, unplug the unused charger not the goddamned alarm clock thx.

Edit: I did try to give this a clear title.

Ummm...if the charger is unused...maybe you could unplug it as a way of showing said cleaner which outlet you'd like them to use?

the story reminded me of a friend of mine who called me up one day to come over and see if I could figure out why her internet was not working.
I went over to her apartment and checked out her laptop, which seemed to be working fine, just could not detect her wireless network.
I asked her where her router was and she said in her spare bedroom.
As I walked into the room I noticed a light switch on the wall, but looking up I saw no ceiling fixtures...hmmmm. I thought... switched plugs.... I threw the switch and yelled "try your internet now!" ... seconds later she yells "Wonderful you Fixed it!!!"

Turned out her cleaner had been over the day before and like many people automaticly turns off light switches when leaveing rooms....

"I call it purring, not growling," said Alice.

"Call it what you like," said the Cat.

I did that. But now, I remember to check whether my phone is on silent.

My old phone, the alarm worked even if it was set to silent.

My new one... does not.

This, I found out recently when 6 hours away from my own time zone. I changed the time and date on my phone (already a major challenge) and set the alarm.

Woke up about five minutes before I was due in a meeting.

It disturbs me you refer to Nether as your "cleaner".

P2 gets up at 5 AM to go to dialysis three days a week. He resets the alarm so I can get up at 6:30 to get the kids to school (because I could sleep through an alien invasion). Sometimes he forgets and on Saturday mornings I'm running around at 6:30 AM trying to get kids up and on the bus that's not coming.

You have to change the time and date on your phone when you travel? My phone picks that up as soon as I turn it on in the new location, i.e. when the plane lands!! Takes less than a minute, if I'm not watching the phone I miss it.

I apologized for this a dozen times, but I had to do something really special before she forgave me.

The worst version of this that I'd heard of was a server that was going down at 4AM every day... when the cleaner went through and unplugged the rack so they could plug in their floor polisher.

Wait 1:15am saturday or 1:15 am sunday?

If the latter, how the hell did you manage to sleep 25 straight hours?

I've heard a version of that "geek legend" where they plugged the floor polisher into a large UPS, which then tripped when the motor pulled 40 amps on startup as an inductive load.
