Incomprehensible gibberish
| I don't believe in alien abductions. It's just wrong to treat people that way, even if they did sneak into the country illegally. They are probably just trying to support families back home and live the (insert name of your home country here) Dream! How dare you people condone abducting poor aliens? Alien abductions. Pshaw. It's a slippery slope. If it's ok to abduct them today, it will be ok to mash them into bricks of Soylent Green tomorrow. And let's face it, there's nothing "green" about Soylent Green. It has a carbon footprint the size of a Yeti paw I suppose you people would also condone abducting Yetis. I don't care about eating people, but let's at least try to be earth friendly when we do so. Hello...global warming! Haven't you people heard of a guy named Al Gore, or did you eat him, too, instead of facing an Inconvenient Truth? Jesus! For a bunch of left wing hippies, you guys sure are a bunch of violent, kidnapping environment wreckers. |

My Mood: | I do think that there is other life "out there" somewhere. It would be extremely egotistical of us humans to believe we're the only intelligent life form in the cosmos. However, alien abductions? Um, no. I don't believe anyone has ever been kidnapped for a night-time examination by an alien species. |

My Mood: | Thanks Retro. I <3 the Skeptic society. When you look at the explosion of biodiversity right here on planet Earth, humans, jellyfish, mushrooms, dolphins, centipedes, trees, whales and paramecium ... and don't forget creatures that have evolved and gone extinct like the pterodactyl and the T-Rex ... you have to remember that they all evolved in near identical environmental conditions and yet they are wildly dissimilar to each other. The same nitrogen, oxygen, argon, carbon dioxide atmosphere on a planet covered in liquid water where most of the average temperatures range between 20-90 degrees F and the gravity is 9.8m/s^2. (I say near identical in the cosmic sense of the word.) So imagine what life on another planet might be like. Even on another planet identical to Earth, life would probably evolve very differently than it did here on our Earth. Sure, certain basic features would probably be duplicated given the (arguably) universal selection advantage they provide, such as eyes to see, legs to walk, and wings to fly. But the evolved details and arrangements of these features would probably make life on this other-Earth wildly different than any of the creatures we see here at home. But imagine life on a planet with different environmental conditions than Earth. Different atmosphere, gravity, and chemical make-up. Imagine life on a planet with subterranean oceans of ammonia or a gravity half or double that of Earths. Imagine at any given time during the evolutionary process one creature manages to somehow achieve dominance ... rather than a 4 limb creature destined to go bipedal, maybe something akin to a dolphin, or an insect, or a jellyfish manages secure its environment to such a degree that it evolves into the planet's intelligent species. What would a creature from another planet look like? Carl Sagan describes the bipedal humanoid aliens that permeate our popular culture a "failure of the imagination" and I have to agree. When/if we ever actually do find alien life, it will probably blow our minds.

| Member ![]() | Interesting debate. Some scientists claim that human intelligence evolved from the fact that we hade prehensile hands, the opposable thumb and fingers, which allowed us to manipulate objects. This opened us up to new intellectual thought processes, which allowed us to create and use tools, which in turn led to concepts such as property, skill, sharing knowledge... On the other hand, dolphins are an example of what could have become an intelligent species: they are aware of their environment, live and work together in communities, and share a complex language. However, they have no way of creating tools or building, which prevented them from acquiring certain concepts. If an intelligent life form is capable of building a space ship, it will probably be a species that has some sort of evolved prehensile organ comparable to our hands, as well as sensorial organs, that allowed it to start interacting with its environment and to develop intelligence. That's about all we can guess... |

| role-player ![]() ![]() | I saw 4th kind last night, and what struck me was the similarities between 'alien abductions' and 'demonic possessions'. I get the Sumerian link here with the "Ancient Astronaut Theory" (also, the movie Knowing with Nick Cage was based on this), but a friend of mine said that demons have been known to speak in Sumerian too through possessed individuals. Especially the scenes where those who are put into hypnosis contort their body and do weird shit, it was like Emily Rose all over again. So yeah, interesting correlation.

| There have been genuine Alien Abductions in Italy.. One was reported where American intelligence agents abducted a Muslim cleric with no regard for Italian sovereignty or due process

My Mood: | I first starting thinking about this when I heard of catholic theologian being quoted in the some main stream media , as saying he thought the idea of extra-terrestrial life to be plausible . So , I thought abit about it , and am somewhat open minded to the idea that there could be life somewhere else besides on Earth , though prob very far away , atleast physically . The Bible does not tell us all things about existence , there are some things not mentioned . So , it's really open for Christians to explore with science for the truth about it . Neither do they have to be of hostile or malicious intent , and neither do they have to abduct people to learn about us , necessarily either . I really have just a general idea about the topic , I have somewhere a copy of Chariots of the gods , someone gave me awhile back . A freind of mine a few months ago asked me about the mayan calender and 2012 , and so I have read up abit on that now to be able to form an opinion . Just because the calender ends though , it does not necessarily mean they also thought it was the end of time and space of this world , but could mean that a new cycle is starting , so all this recent Hollywood stuff , is probably more speculative fiction to that effect . I do wish to see the movie though , as well as avatars when it comes out . There are two authors with the same last names and both from Texas , who speculatively write and lecture on these topics from a exegetical view and archeological scientific view , one is Jim Marrs , an old-school journalist a was in intel in army also , ( i just ordered a book of his ) and the other is a evangelical minister , former USAF areonautics professor I think at a University . As Cindy C. and others point out , some see it as more a scientifically explainable thing from other places in physical space and others as Texe Marrs , tends to see aliens as possible coming from another dimension through a portal to Earth . I thought it was informative to watch , atleast to know what some people think . I have not seen all of this particular series with Jim Marrs , but I have seen another , and if you look on youtube perhaps you can find a better talk buy him . He has a different take than Texe , ( I think ) , but I enjoyed listening to them both , and they complement eachother in some ways ,as both men are intelligent and have an interesting grasp of science . Jim talks alot about the Sumerian writings and archeology . hope you enjoy them have fun , gotta go have dinner and do my wash . blah blah . I watched them with ' grain of salt' , so bring your popcorn ! ![]()

| I don't believe that extraterrestial nonhuman persons abduct people on Earth. I also do not believe that extraterrestial nonhuman persons do not abduct people on Earth. There are three ways to describe the answer to any question: true, false and unknowable. I learned in another thread that some people don't seem to grasp this concept.

Incomprehensible gibberish
| What I don't get is why, after developing so much technology - the ability to span the reaches of space and time, and traveling all this distance just to get to Earth, they only seem interested in sticking stuff up our butts. How does that make sense? Plus, it's a repeated pattern with them. I mean really, once you've seen what one person has up their butt, you pretty much know what everyone has up there. How big of a sampling of the population do you really need for your colon contents survey? Well, that and cattle russlin'. I guess I could see stealing some livestock, though, because livestock usually tastes delicious, and after being cooped up in a flying saucer, who wouldn't be hungry for some good BBQ? |

Business: Red Fedora Productions | We have X-rays, MRIs, CAT scans, etc. They probably have some similar but miniaturized stuff that can be used from orbit while targets are moving. No abduction required. (Unless they just like cutting things up like a thanksgiving turkey) |

Business: The Rooke's Nest | Americans get kidnapped and left for dead in Mexico all the time. (So I'm told by "reliable" sources). But has anyone ever heard of a Mexican alien getting abducted and dumped in the streets of L.A.? No, of course you haven't. Ergo, I don't believe in alien abductions.
