You won't have to worry about them finding us much longer:

Skymania News | Space headlines: Aliens face Earth TV switch-off

Quote:
ET is about to miss out on all his favourite TV shows from Earth, according to the world's top alien-hunter. The global switchover to digital TV will destroy the signal for "zillions of viewers" on other planets, says Seth Shostak, chief astronomer at the SETI Institute - the Search for Extra-Terrestrial Intelligence.
So TV signals have been going into space for a bit over 60 years. 60 light years isn't even a pinprick compared to the size of our galaxy - 100,000 light years across and roughly 1,000 light years thick. Within that 60 light years, there aren't very many viable candidates for life.

If they didn't home in on our radio signals, how did they ever find us in all this mess:

They got my coffee too. Ultimate proof they're everywhere

(I'm a wine-drinking wife, so they not even choosy, this lot).

Do a google search for "Sleep Paralysis" ... it's the "scientific" explanation to what people experience in what they believe to be an abduction. On a personal note, I did experience something like this twice ... nothing like an "abduction", but I was paralyzed, seemingly awake, and heard some of the most freakiest shit that I still can't forget.

  • Paralysis: occurs after waking up or just before falling asleep. You cannot move any body part, aside from involuntary movements such as blinking and breathing. "This paralysis is the same paralysis that occurs when dreaming. The brain paralyzes the muscles to prevent possible injury during dreams, as some body parts may move during dreaming. If the person wakes up suddenly, the brain may still think that it is dreaming, and sustains the paralysis." (Source: wikipedia.org)
  • Hallucinations: Images or sounds that appear during the episode. The sensation that someone is standing beside you or somewhere close by in the room. Strange sounds. Some people feel a heavy weight on their chest, as if they are being sat on.

This has happened to me once. I had already been aware of sleep paralysis, so when it happened I wasn't really in a panic. This also came with the hallucination that I was falling through the floor of my bedroom. I saw the room moving up and away from me. This transitioned into a really vivid sensation of flying over my neighborhood at tree level. It was really very cool! One of the coolest dreams I ever had!

I think chances are good that there is life out there somewhere, maybe even intelligent life. I can't believe in the whole alien abduction thing until I see some CREDIBLE evidence. I was going to say "probative" which is the term lawyers use, but it would give rise to way too many puns.

I experienced sleep paralysis off and on for years and it scared hell out of me, especially the first time. I woke up and swore that someone or something had lifted the covers and laid down next to me. Then a feeling of buzzing" covered my whole body, and I could not move at all - couldn't even move my mouth to speak. It subsided after about 20 minutes or so.

After that it happened to me about once a month for years. It got annoying. I didn't know about sleep paralysis at the time, and I was kind of a whacked-out spiritualist, so I thought it was some spirit contacting / attacking me. Then after it stopped, I learned about the phenomenon and was embarrassed by what I told people.

I do think there is more life out in space then we can even fathom.. to much space for no life to be.
But not to sure about little gray guys... maybe if someone shoots one and sticks it on their fender as they drive around with it might help lol

The phenomenon of sleep paralysis can also be linked to historical accounts of the succubus or the 'Grey Hag'. A hideous figure that would sit on a helpless sleepers chest and suck the breath out of them.

I sufferd sleep disturbance myself for a period of a couple of years, including episodes of sleep paralysis which where absolutely terrifying to begin with. More than once grey figures just out of my field of vision where involved.

So you can either take it that this is a common manifestation of some primeval fear by the subconscious, and still dreaming, mind. Which would make the modern interpretation of abduction by 'Greys' simply an evolution of the myth.
Or that there is something that has been adbucting or interfering with people in their sleep throughout history

So I'm voting 'Other' because at the end of the day we don't know what the answer is.

..........Or maybe thats what 'They' told me to tell you because you're getting too close to the truth

I don't believe in alien abduction.. I believe in something else.. but if I tell you .. there's a possibility I seem stranger to you than I already do. What if???? What if these aren't aliens but our future ancestors?

Ghosts are grey too. Another interpretation of the same phenomenon, most likely.

To my knowledge I've not experinced sleep paralysis. Not while awake, at any rate.

I'm confused though. If the brain causes me to be paralysed while I sleep, why do I toss and turn so much? (I swear I need to tie my duvet to the bed).

On Topic, I had to select "No" for this poll because I don't believe in abductions, but I admit there's a lot of unexplained things in the world. I do think that life exists elsewhere, because of the simple logic of the vastness of space and the abundance of building blocks and processes for life, at least to the simple level I understand them. Whether that life is microbial or vastly advanced, based on carbon or something else - dunno. I just think the odds are in favor.

But I have seen UFO's twice in my life (and no, I wasn't high at the time ) Typical glowing lights hovering then moving off at aerodynamically impossible angles and blinding speed kind of stuff. It didn't lead me to believe in space-traveling grays, but I was impressed by the show, even if it was all in my head.

The paralysis is partial, and mostly occurs while you're dreaming so that you won't run around the house while you're being chased by monsters Which also explains the frozen feeling in dreams of being unable to run. So inbetween dream times you can move about more, getting comfortable.
