| Port Obello - The best. ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() | Just to let you all know, there's a viewer (which will be unnamed) that has a prim/texture copying command built right in. To identify the items that have been copied, they have the creator as (unnamed) and the root prim was created in Aug of 07. Also the Emerald Greenlife viewer will tell you who is using it (edit: actually it won't, since I didn't say the name! ), since it displays what viewers people are using. Reporting people for copying items while using it, there's a few people who hang out in Bug Island that have copied attachments, and I reported 2 with no effects to them. Edit: Let me rephrase that last part. I have reported people for using it. Specifically, a couple people who hang out on Bug Island. There has been no action taken against them by LL. Is this an effort by one viewer producer to undermine another . . . or is what's been reported so far fact? Without complete information, this "warning" is worthless. The rest of us can't judge what's true and what's false . . . nor can we take steps to avoid downloading and installing the culprit viewer when there are at least 8 different viewers out there that I'm aware of (there are probably more). --- Rema | |

The fake Emerald has several exciting worms built in -- my antivirus wouldn't let me download it. Only get Emerald from the modular systems site, boys and girls.

It's on an extremely skeezy file-sharing site. Do NOT download clients via Torrent -- you have no idea what you're really getting. Only download Emerald from Modular Systems. Have an anti-virus installed and UP TO DATE. Last edited by Beezle Warburton; 07-15-2009 at 09:50 PM.

Investigate away. I didn't particularly note *which* of the trojans/worms was in it. If something pops in the antivirus, I just tend to hit the "delete" option. You apparently have far more experience, perhaps you'd like to tell us. I didn't make the link public -- not out of rudeness, but I don't think it really good form to post links to stuff I *know* is virus ridden to a public forum. At this point, I give you, I'm not sure what you're after that will convince your 44+ years of experience that we're not making this up. Last edited by Beezle Warburton; 07-16-2009 at 12:33 AM. |

![]() The hippo technologies island was all no create, no entry, and no auto-return, but he had a small 32m plot that had create on, but the surrounding parcel was no-entry. Normally that wouldn't be a problem but with a little know bug (2 different ones, actually), you can move items over onto no-entry parcels. So his whole store/island could be sabotaged! I let him know, but he still hasn't fixed it. Basically, use auto-return no matter what.

Business: Culprit Client: LL beta | There are 2 of these viewers, not just the one. both apparently very similar to Emerald, actually built from the code made available way back I posted a thread somewhere here about a hacked client.. a friend showed me screenshots he took at a demo of the viewers (which apparently are for sale inworld for those in the know from some avatar or other.. for 250USD) the screenshot shows the click and get then copy the animations, the get texture and the doubleclick copy thing. these viewers have been available since around May sometime. |

Clearly Meerkat's not the one you've all been hinting at. . . . and that's good. But, I also think that if I thought Meerkat might have been the culprit, others might have also have thought so . . . and then Meerkat would take a hit--inadvertently--as far as downloads of their product is concerned--a disservice to them. That didn't seem fair to me . . . which is another reason I've been pressing hard here. So now I have a follow-on question: are there any other viewers out there--based on Emerald--that should be clearly identified as NOT being the culprit here? If so, I think that those should be identified so that those products don't take an uncalled for hit against downloads too. FWIW, I am running Emerald, which I like a lot. Gemini is my second choice, but I haven't adopted it because the dark windowing is too hard on my old eyes. Meerkat would be an option if it could do better than--or as well as--Second Inventory at moving items to my OpenSim which I have as an isolated environment on my PC. That has yet to be seen. Other viewers I've tried are: Kirsten's (although I haven't tried S18 yet), Impudence, and Snowglobe. ---- Rema
