I went off and bought a new vintage suit from Swank Bros. today. (Not quite as nice as 1-800-Bettie's, but close - and they have the double-breasted 1940's look.) Having blue and grey already, I bought a brown one.

Then I realized I had no appropriate brown shoes, so I had to go to Jeepers Creepers and buy another pair of Carl Perkins in brown. (Can't wear black shoes with a brown suit - no, no,no!) They cost more than the suit!!!

This is all your fault, Carter - you posted that picture in the blue seersucker from Blaze with the Carl Perkins shoes. I not only have that suit, but I have three pairs of the shoes. You are hard on my linden dollar balance!

Last night my girlfriend called me a "GQ butch." I think it was the gold cufflinks I had on ...

... I'm not going to take her comment to heart, she liked the outfit and she likes it when I look dapper. So I'm not planning to rein in my shopping (or my waistcoat collection, or my necktie collection, or my sculpted collar and sculpted cuff collection, or ...) any time soon.

I'm definitely not a slave to fashion - but I have my own style. And it's fun to wear retro suits and uniforms to USO, where I go a lot. (Unless, of course, you call wearing brown shoes with a brown suit - instead of black shoes - a "slave of fashion".)

I bought a US Navy officer's uniform too - summer whites. I'm up to three uniforms now. The other two had combat boots with them, but the whites don't. I think my black Carl Perkins will go nicely.
