Yep. Even in the 'extreme' areas. Just stop by the barn on my island, sit by the campfire, and turn on Voice. You will hear just as many women as men.

I honestly never considered this. Hmmm. So because I have that in my profile some might think I'm actually a guy? Dang.

I don't have any trouble btw finding clothing that is sexy or feminine that isn't what people would think of as "slutty" - although this is such a subjective idea. This is a typical look for me, it's what I'm wearing today...

Sometimes I do parade teh boobies, but in an alluring and classy way - at least imho. I am also talking about when I'm hanging out on the grid in general, not during fun and naughty spankie time.

There's a line between honesty and a concern for privacy. On a big grid, A/S/L can be a dangerous question, sometimes. Just a thought.

Information adds up... there's that information, and you mention you went to a theater show recently,, and then you mention something else, and it's enough to track someone down. I'm exaggerating a bit--- one doesn't' need to look sideways at every person in SL, but still there are scary people in this world.....

I'm pretty good at finding people. I use my powers only for good, but still. Each little thing can add up to a great big picture. By knowing your gender, someone can decide if you're worth stalking or not. By knowing your age, they can rule out other people who might fit your description, but are 10 years older or younger according to their Myspace/Facebook/whatever account. By being Canadian, I can rule out anyone in the US, UK, etc.

Killian's sister challenged me to find her Myspace account without giving me any clues. I had it in five minutes.

i agree that you shouldn't give out so much personal information. Being honest about your age & gender is a must, if you are getting involved with another person. Some people do not care if you are male or female and on the other hand some do. Though I bet you, everyone cares about age...

I was involved with a resident for a year that crossed over to RL and we met. I would have been devastated to find out if they lied about their gender and age. Should we just go by our instinct? on trust? How they type? hell no.

I knew before we got romantically involved, he had the same concern as me, rightly so. Ventrillo ftw.

Dangerous Curves Ahead « Are we not men?

Thought this might help here

There was also a tutorial somewhere in the SLogosphere like a year ago that mentioned all the little details that men playing women usually forget, but I don't remember where that was placed.

I've wondered about the age issue. When asked, I'll tell anyone my age. But they rarely reciprocate. If they do, they are often vague ("over 30", "almost 40", "really old, lol"). I don't understand it, I guess because I'm not old. But I don't see a big difference in 35 or 43 or whatever. I'm surprised people who want to know my age won't provide theirs and wonder if they would if my age were closer to theirs.

I had a friend back in Everquest who one day found a wierd guy standing on her porch professing his love for her wood elf.

Luckily her husband was home and beat the crap out of the guy then held him till the police came.

Turned out it was someone from her guild who had tracked her down from comments she had made in guild chat.

I've had guys ask me my age to make sure I wasn't a kid. To me, that gives me enough respect for their priorities that I will tell them, lol.

Alrighty - A little footnote which I'm sure will amuse ya'll:

I log in this afternoon to a tirade of angry IM's from one of the "fauxbiens". *thanks to Colette for that great word*

I was set to "busy" last night for a long time as I am trying to learn to build. Afterward, I noticed this person had IM'd me a few times, but it was late so I logged with the intention of saying hello today. I didn't bother to read them.

So today I read these nasty IM's saying mostly, "If you don't want to talk to me anymore just take me off of your friends list, don't "pretend" to be busy...JUST BE HONEST DAMMIT!!1!@11!

This from a (say it with me) heterosexual man - pretending to be a girl - pretending to be a lesbian.

You know, I have spent just shy of 3 years avoiding drama and bs of all kinds. What did I do??

I'm telling you I didn't used to believe my mother when she would forget her exact age.

Know I know. At a certain point you don't want to remember and it all goes downhill from there.

I am SOOOOO glad to hear this Luc. I thought I was really stupid because anytime someone asks me my age I forget. I have sat in a Dr. office doing the math. It is like a mental block. Oddly I often credit myself as older rather then younger when I answer.

When I tell people my age in SL, Rosie keeps telling me she feels like a cradlerobber.

So I guess I'll start telling people I'm in my 60s. Given my political beliefs I doubt anyone would be surprised either.

(I'm 23 btw)
