This is about a month old, but I just stumbled across it and found it interesting:

Shocker: Sources Indicate "Pixeleen Mistral" of the Second Life Herald An Alias of Urizenus Sklar

The Griefer Herald is accusing Urizenus Sklar and Pixeleen Mistral of the Second Life Herald of being the same person. Granted, you have to consider the source, but it still makes for fun reading and is actually pretty thorough.

I got the impression that Uri got bored of SL.

He's a philosophy professor at U of M, perhaps he just hasn't had time to bother with the SLH whatsoever.

I didn't read all of that (or all of what I had seen earlier about this), but I don't think Pixeleen is Uri.

Pixeleen is a guy, as far as I know. But Uri would have had to have dumbed himself down an AWFUL lot, plus lost his entire sense of humor and satire, and become a much worse writer. So, I think not.

Plus the SLH wouldn't have completely gone to hell in a handbasket if he still cared about it.

I think he wrote his book, and then was done with SL, basically. I don't know why he lets the SLH continue on, unless it is for money somehow, or out of sentiment, or for the occasional piece (like they had lately) talking about how wonderful something he has done is.

Course I could be wrong; it wouldn't be the first time.

I don't look on the SLH much anymore. I'm glad they are going to other venues, like Lively, because SLH is just a total mess now, without Uri, and it is kind of ridiculous that they are purporting to even cover SL anymore.

That is to say, they are regularly a week late on the big stories, if they cover them at all. I used to look there first; now I don't even think to look there. They obviously no longer care about SL. And the phone-in stories about the naked girls or griefers just don't hold that much interest to me.

What pertinent stories there are aren't developed enough - again, it's phoned in - and the comment section is sure to be overrun with 12-year-old griefer nincompoops.

So, why look at it? It's no longer germaine.

Yep, I am with CoCo on this. SLH used to be satirical, goofy and sometimes informative.
Now it is post 6 guys/girls, SL military drama, crappy poems and SLebrity posers. By the time SLH reports something it has made the forums rounds and already falling to the second pages.

I used to love the Herald in the same way I loved watching Maury Povich some times. A totally guilty pleasure, a modern day train wreck in slow motion. It was awesome.

A, Prok is not my "favorite person in the world."

B, I'm glad Pixeleen is nice to you, and Pixeleen has never been NOT nice to me.

C, my remarks are based mostly on disappointment that the keen edge is gone from SLH and the writing leaves a lot to be desired, and frustration that you can't find any actual news on it to speak of anymore. It is now like someone above said - like a high school newspaper, and about as important. As a writer myself, I tend to form opinions about writing, though apparently you figure I can't have a thought in my head about writing. Formidable.

D, I've followed the SLH since it was the Alphaville Herald, and have been somewhat involved with Uri and his dealings since early TSO, possibly longer than you have been aware the newspaper existed. This involvement has been entirely independent, and began, I think, before I even knew Prok.

E, I disagree with Prok on many things, as you well know. I have no knowledge, however, of his specific thoughts on Pixeleen TO disagree with. I'm sure I've read some at some point, but shoot me, I don't remember them.

F, I miss Uri.
