I received this email this afternoon, and I find what it says extremely interesting and sad at the same time:

DUE to the JOB SITUATION in MICHIGAN. This is the first time I've ever seen a corporate employer in Michigan say something like this. Obviously, it is becoming worse instead of better.

Did you miss the part where the state of Wyoming sent job recruiters here to look for people because we have so many here with nothing better to do than chase tumbleweeds, or whatever it is they need people to do in Wyoming?

Ahem...

I live in Wyoming and we have all the same jobs other states do. The problem is that our salaries and wages are far from competitive, so most of the young people go elsewhere when they finish school.

Only reasons I'm in Texas now are family, decent tech sector, giant goth/industrial scene, and it's cheap as hell.

I think my grouchiness is due to being in Houston. The climate is pretty hard on me. I lived in Austin for a little while in the eighties and liked it a lot more.

Houston is the 2nd Circle of Hell. Also the crime rate is scary.

True. Although, before I had a car I used the bus to get around and wasn't particularly afraid. BUT it's gotten a lot worse since the Katrina refugees got here. Most of them are good people but unfortunately the bad eggs got here too and they're rattling around loose. I think if I didn't have a car now, I would be scared.

But the weather, it must be from hell! ick!
