The way he presents it is pretty frelling hilarious though and I don't think he was actually trying to 'fix' the relationship that way, just do something sexually adventurous which might help them reconnect.

Besides, she didn't object and was actually going to buy it for him at some point before things imploded entirely.

Ha, no, the relationship was already pretty much over...it was a last ditch kinda thing, since the situation couldn't really get any worse. He also offered to do something I actually find more questionable for her in that same spirit...he wouldn't have suggested either if things had been going well.
