My Mood:  SL Join Date: November, 2003 Blog Entries: 1   | Wouldn't be hard to emulate 15% monthly growth if you knew the proper dates to bloat and whittle your estate. People used to avoid prim taxes by packing everything Monday nights and putting them back out the next day after the bills were paid. Any deal can be gamed when the organization doesn't track the numbers efficiently. Managing data has never been Linden Lab's forte.

Peoples have not money to pay the tier, this is the FACT. I live in a 1/4 full sim parcel and i have changed ALL my neighbors EIGHT times in a year. | How strict were they at verifying non-profits? Surely they had to make sure people weren't just rezzing their skyboxes and living the good life in the air over their non-profit front built up on the ground? I had always assumed non-profit went away because that trend was common. |

And, of course, LL has made many, many mistakes over the years, and continues to do so, but I simply relent - fighting against tradition is futile, and LL making mistakes is a long held tradition for SL. If LL did something brilliant, I do believe I would die from the shock - at least my avi would. Which reminds me, I wonder if there be in SL an avi graveyard? Just cancelling an account is not as much fun as going through some sort of ceremony or ritual, and ending up under a plot with a gravestone. | |

| After the end of month crash on Monday/Tuesday where the grid had a net loss of 203 regions down to 29859 it subsequently made a small recovery ending up 138 regions down on last week. All the observed loss was amongst private estates Total number of Main Grid regions is now 29924 ( 22803 private estates & 7121 Linden owned) 154 new regions were added and 38 returned to the grid, with 320 regions removed (40 were renamed and 5 came and went since last report) As mentioned on Tuesday, much of this weeks big loss was end of month rationalisation by the larger estates. Actual observed net losses over the week by estates were Jessica Chung down 28 regions, Barbie Chung 20, Azure Islands 18, Dreamseeker Estate 17, Victoria Chung 13, Miriam Chung 14 & Lala Rentals 11 (Total known ACS estates losses came to 98). Some of the losses include temporary event regions such as RFL and Fashion Fair ones. The Weezles Real Estate bucked the trend , with a net gain of 21 regions this week Moderate rated regions bore the brunt of this weeks loss with both Adult & General rated growing. Adult rated regions were up 26 to 3436 (11.5% of the grid) whilst General rated increased by 7 to 4523 (15.1%). Breakdown of current regions by Ownership and Classification:

| The region Abranimations has gone away - However the main store of Abranimations has been on the Animations Region for as long as I've been surveying (over 4 years) and should still be there. |

| A net increase of 32 regions this week with Private Estates gaining 36 and Linden owned dropping by 4 Total number of Main Grid regions is now 29956 ( 22839 private estates & 7117 Linden owned) 106 new regions were added and 43 returned to the grid, with 114 regions removed (15 were renamed and 0 came and went since last report) Azure Islands grew by 19 and Dreamseeker Estates added 18 regions . The Amercian Cancer Society also brought online 14 Dreamseeker Home Expo regions currently closed to the public. There were no significant losses seen this week, though the Lab did drop a handful of Destination Islands . | Tiny net growth of 6 region this week with Private Estates growing by 10 and Linden owned losing 4 Total number of Main Grid regions is now 29962 ( 22849 private estates & 7113 Linden owned) 99 new regions were added and 29 returned to the grid, with 131 regions removed (26 were renamed and 2 came and went since last report) This week the Dreamseeker Estate was the only one to show any significant change in size, with an increase of 15 regions. Linden lab removed 5 Destination Islands and added a 9th Mole Island. Adult rated regions grew by 3 this week to a total of 3461 (11.6% of the grid) whilst General rated declined by 25 to 4503 (15.0%) Breakdown of current regions by Ownership and Classification:

| Here are the results of the May 2012 Private Estate Survey. based on a sample of 5000 randomly selected private estate regions selected to estimate Full/Homestead/Openspace penetration. I've moved the surveying period on a few days to be closer to the 1st of the following month to be able to better capture end of month changes. This does mean that this months survey includes two end of months (April & May) and is a little later than last months. The results are as follows:
Of the 4325 accessible regions , 58.4% are Full Regions, 41.0% are Homesteads and 0.6% are Openspaces. The Margins of Error are +/-1.32% , +/- 1.32% and +/-0.20% respectively for the three figures figure at the 95% confidence level. This is a tiny shift away from Full regions this month down 0.1% share since last months survey. During this period Private estates had a net loss of 200 Regions to a total of 22741 representing a monthly decline of 0.9% , sightly more than last months 0.6% loss. The proportion closed to public access was down by 0.3% on last month at 13.5%. 7 of the Full Regions were Linden Developed Regions (i.e. sold new with content) and 2 Linden Developed Homesteads were included in the sample. Again as with all previous months this is too small penetration to estimate total number. 787 of the 1774 (44.4%) Homestead regions were at the new non-grandfathered rate, this is a small but non-significant rise of 1.9% from last months (42.5% ). Taking these figures a good estimate of private estate tier due each month is US$4,814,000 +/- US$55,000 . (Calculated using known grandfathering rates but excludes any academic reductions and is rounded to the closest US$1000), this figure is up on last month's estimate of US$4,856,000 by $42,000 , a non-significant fall of about 0.9%. The top 20 landowners currently control 33.2% (+/- 1.3%) of private estate regions, This 0.6% down on last month , using list prices their holdings are down 0.9% to 28.2% of total private estate tier. The figures for the top 10 landowners are 24.4% (+/- 1.2%) of regions and 19.8% of tier (the larger estates tend to have a bigger proportion of homesteads than smaller estates). This share for the top 10 is 0.5% down on last months figure of 24.9% of private estate regions. The Top 10 Full Region/Homestead/Openspace proportions are 38.6%/61.4%/0.0% and 38.1%/61.7%/0.1% for the top 20 The Top 10 Estates by number of regions held are as follows: [
The largest climber this month was the RGF estate up 0.2% last time, The Dreamseeker Estate contracted by 0.6% share this month. The ACS total Share of Private Estates rose by 0.3% share to 11.7%( +/-0.9%) after last months large increase. The Margins of error for these Estate shares range from +/-0.6% for the largest down to +/- 0.3% for the smallest, These rankings are purely on number of regions owned and are not based on FRE numbers . March's list for the Estates in 11th to 20th position (In alphabetical order) is
The smallest of these is about 2/3rds the size of the current estate in 10th position The regions were running on the following distribution of server class
Survey Details: This survey was based on a random sample of 5000 private estate regions drawn from all 22741 private estates on the grid on 1st June 2012. The actual surveying took place on 2nd June 2012.A further 15 regions were randomly selected to top up the sample, replacing those regions which were unavailable (other than closed to public access) at the time of surveying. |

| Another end of month , another large drop in regions. Net losses this week were 140 regions, Private Estates were down by 141 , Linden owned up by 1 Total number of Main Grid regions is now 29832 ( 22719 private estates & 7113 Linden owned) 84 new regions were added and 32 returned to the grid, with 250 regions removed (22 were renamed and 1 came and went since last report) Whilst a very large loss this week I didn't detect any estate taking a large hit (net loss of 9 or more) except for Dreamseeker Estate which dropped 35 (and 16 of these were only online for the Home Expo) and Fantasy Land down by 14. , the rest of the loss seems to be spread across estates . Even with 140 regions going, Adult rated regions still managed to grew again this week , up 5 to 3481 (11.7% of the grid) although General rated were down by 10 to 4468 (15.0%) Breakdown of current regions by Ownership and Classification:

My Mood: | These result seems very accurate. For example Zoha Islands has 625 sims right now, Bell 382 ones (so it's a little understimated). Anyway all it is in the declared error range. My proposal is about solid data on list for the Estates in 11th to 20th position.... i fully agreed that smallest is the estate bigger the error....still it would be interesting the "story" (even if not much accurate) of medium level estates. Yes i have noticed a general shrink all across estates....expecially smaller, some of them are losing two or three sims to compensate a lower number of renters. About large estates, in this moment they are giving away homesteads at 7000 or much less (RGF) just to not close precious grandfathered sims, ummmmm not a big deal, it seems a thing ala "this is or die". Funny thing, years ago the price of an homestead was in the range of 8000/9000 depending on estate. Another notation, there are at least three big/medium estates very stable or growing, they are "only one language" or so . A beginning of a strong nationalism on SL...bad thing IMO. |

| I'm off for a few days on a trip to Ireland with Tom Petty (well maybe not with Tom Petty - just to see him in concert amongst other things*) So next week's report will probably be delayed by 24 hours . Daily surveying on Gridsurvey will also be on hiatus as my survey bots also have some down time. In the mean time a little bit of news - the survey I ran earlier today shows an additional 75 private estate regions added since Sunday, 25 have been ACS regions and 6 Dreasmseeker Estate but the rest are not publicly accessible at the moment to be able to determine ownership - more news when I return Last edited by Tyche Shepherd; 06-06-2012 at 04:24 PM. | A little late but here is yesterdays report, still based on Sunday's figures. The growth we saw at the beginning of the week of 75 regions slipped back a little but we ended up with net growth of 59 regions. Private Estates grew by 61 and Linden Owned were down by 2. Total number of Main Grid regions is now 29891 ( 22780 private estates & 7111 Linden owned) 159 new regions were added and 63 returned to the grid, with 162 regions removed (26 were renamed and 1 came and went since last report) Most of the new regions were Dreamseeker Estates regions who added at least 76 also ACS overall grew by 11 regions across the 9 sub-estates. The only notable losses were for Lala Rentals who contracted by 11 regions. Adult rated regions continued to grow , this week by 23 regions to 3504 (11.7% of the grid) whilst general rated fell by 14 to 4454 (14.9%). | Firstly just in case people missed it , I published the results of the latest quarterly Mainland census yesterday , you can read the details in this thread Mainland Census for June 2012 Now back to the normal weekly report: This week the grid grew by 60 Regions, 54 Private Estates and 6 Linden owned Total number of Main Grid regions is now 29951 ( 22834 private estates & 7117 Linden owned) 178 new regions were added and 33 returned to the grid, with 98 regions removed (18 were renamed and 1 came and went since last report) Dreamseeker Estates drove a lot of this week growth (as they did last week) adding 30 Regions though ACS added 16 across two of their estates. There were no major losses detected. The 6 New Linden regions were the 6 Pathfinding Sandboxes Adult rated regions increased by 10 to 3514 (11.7% of the grid) whilst General rated fell by 10 to 4444 (14.8%) Breakdown of current regions by Ownership and Classification:
