My Mood:  SL Join Date: Jun 27, 2006 Client: 7 of them (I like testing) | Use a version 1 based viewer, open search, to the Land Sales tab, check all maturity ratings, uncheck the price button, and check the Area button, and enter 65,536m (the area of a full region). Then on the dropdown list choose "For Sale - Mainland" and hit Search. I see 7 available at the moment You might find some more if you drop the area to something like 32768 and there are some full regions available, but split into a couple of parcels. Then you just have to check each one and see if the rest of the region is also for sale. |

Currently it is priced at 199,999 Linden$, but will probably drop lower as the 20th of this month gets nearer. It was bought by a speculator who has had a really hard time unloading it in this economy. In the good ole days, lol, this region would be worth close to 1,000,000 Linden dollars or more. I do feel very sorry for the guy who bought this on spec. He has been desperately trying to unload it, by dividing it up into quarters, etc., but no one is buying nowadays. He now has it as a full region for sale. He was asking for around 500,000 L$ for it not long ago, and has dropped it considerably. It is a great buy - and no, I am not the owner of it - I never buy Mainland. But this one did take my interest several months ago because it just came onto the market in the summer after being buried under a very well built urban area. | Another week of small growth on the Main Grid with a net increase of 49 regions, (31 private estates & 18 Linden Owned). Total number of Main Grid regions is now 31557 ( 24954 private estates & 6603 Linden owned) 175 new regions were added and 18 returned to the grid, with 162 regions removed (52 were renamed and 9 came and went since last report) Dreamseekers Estate had a net growth of 33 regions and Linden Labs added the 21 Mainland Sailing homesteads around Nautilus . Fruit Islands estate also grew this week by 13 regions . There were no significant landholdings departing the grid this week. Only 47 days to go until Teen Grid is due to be merged with the Main Grid - As soon as these are spotted I'll report them if there is no public announcement Server hosting is more less unchanged yet again. My Mood: | Tyche - Average Number of Homesteads Per Host? Tyche, I have done some spot checking as to how many Homesteads there are per host server. It appears to me that the number may be around 12, instead of the 16 that was originally planned. This would explain a few things that happened about 2 years ago. Is the data in a form wherein you could do a quick check on this? Thanks. |

| Tiny net shrinkage of 4 regions this week,Private estates were down 19 whilst Linden owned were up by 15 Total number of Main Grid regions is now 31553 ( 24935 private estates & 6618 Linden owned) 168 new regions were added and 18 returned to the grid, with 214 regions removed (34 were renamed and 16 came and went since last report) A busy week this week even if the net effect is minor, Dreamseeker Esates continued there juggling with 21 new regions and 30 departures, whilst Fruit Islands added 18, 13 new Linden home regions were added (around Bleen) and the Luxory Estate also added 12 . Departures included 20 Dreamland ACS region , the full 16 regions of the Afrodite estate and All 9 regions of the Cuzinz Esate. | A tiny bit earlier than normal (previous surveys are normally run on the 25th) here is the Private Estate survey for November to estimate Full/Homestead/Openspace penetration. As with previous months the Sample was 5000. The main results are as follows
Of the 4344 accessible regions , 55.3% are Full Regions, 44.0% are Homesteads and 0.6% are Openspaces. The Margins of Error are +/-1.35% , +/- 1.35% and +/-0.21% respectively for the three figures figure at the 95% confidence level. This is a small but non-significant decline on Full Regions down from 56.5% last time which was also down from 57.6% in September. During this period Private estates had a net increase of 97 Regions to a total of 24942. The proportion closed to public access slightly down at 13.1% from 14.0%. 4 of the Full Regions and 3 Homesteads were Linden Developed Regions (i.e. sold new with content). Again as with all previous months this is too small penetration to reliably track but is the largest sampled in any one month to date . 552 of the 1913 (34.1%) Homestead regions were at the new non-grandfathered rate, this is a small rise of 1.6% from last month (32.5% ). Taking these figures a good estimate of private estate tier due each month is US$5,130,000 +/- US$63,000 . (Calculated using known grandfathering rates but excludes any academic reductions and is rounded to the closest US$1000), this figure is down on last month's estimate of US$5,159,000 by $29,000 , a fall of less than 0.6% and is significantly within the margin of error, the small increase in total regions this month not covering the relative tiny loss of Full Regions. The top 20 landowners currently control 30.7% (+/- 1.3%) of private estate regions, This is marginally up on last month (29.4%) , using list prices their holdings represent 23.1% of total private estate tier. The figures for the top 10 landowners are 23.6% (+/- 1.2%) of regions and 17.7% of tier (the larger estates tend to have a bigger proportion of homesteads than smaller estates). The Top 10 Full Region/Homestead/Openspace proportions are 28.3%/71.3%/0.4%, and 30.4%/69.3%/0.3% for the top 20 The Top 10 Estates by number of regions held are as follows:
The Margins of error for these Estate shares range from +/-0.67% for the largest down to +/- 0.27% for the smallest, many of the changes in % were within margin of errors however the decline of Dreamland ACS from 7.0% last month to 6.6% is a movement noticed in my weekly reports. The high positions achieved by Fruit Islands and Zoha Islands from previous months is primarily organic expansion but also both groups have significant holdings spread across two accounts which have been merged in this case (The same has also be done for Luxory Estates who make it into the 11th to 20th list) These rankings are purely on number of regions owned and are not based on FRE numbers . As previously mentioned this survey wasn't designed to measure FRE values especially for estates less that 1 or 2% of the grid. The smallest of these is about half the size of the current estate in 10th position I've just noticed that on the 3rd November Linden Lab changed the server numbering - Class 5 and Class 7 servers are now called Class 501 & 701 respectively . Class 502/503 & 702 are unchanged and a New Class 703 has been introduced The regions were running on the following distribution of server classes:
There seem to be a slight increase in regions hosted on Class 7 servers up to 6.8% from 6,2% last month Survey Details: This survey was based on a random sample of 5000 private estate regions drawn from all 24942 private estates on the grid on 22nd November 2010. The actual surveying took place on 23rd November 2010.A further 8 regions were randomly selected to top up the sample, replacing those regions which were unavailable (other than closed to public access) at the time of surveying. | Apologies for the delay on this week's report - The figures below are still based on Sundays survey A quiet week this week with the Grid growing by a net of 11 regions. Private Estates dropped 5 whilst Linden Owned increased by 16. Total number of Main Grid regions is now 31564 ( 24930 private estates & 6634 Linden owned) 117 new regions were added and 21 returned to the grid, with 136 regions removed (51 were renamed and 2 came and went since last report) The main changes this week were an additional 14 Nascera Linden Home regions centred around Beryllium, The only private estate with any significant change was Fruit Islands, who increased their holdings by 11 regions. | A bit more activity this week, than in recent weeks, with a net loss of 38 regions. Private Estates lost 42 whilst Linden Lab owned had a net gain of 4 . Total number of Main Grid regions is now 31526 ( 24888 private estates & 6638 Linden owned) 182 new regions were added and 25 returned to the grid, with 260 regions removed (49 were renamed and 14 came and went since last report) The main news this week was the arrival on Wednesday 1st of the first 25 regions of a fourth Linden Home continent centred around the Keeler region which is situated due south of the Southern Mainland continent, about half way to the southern Nascera continent.  The 25 New Linden Home Regions are:
These regions are mainly Modern Themed Linden home regions with a smattering of Tahoe A Frames, all centred round park land, this time a little wilder in terrain ,Here I am at the Calico region lookout point.  There was also some other significant comings and goings, On the plus side were the 9 regions added to the Fruit Islands estate, whilst departures included 24 dropped by Dreamland ACS . Governor Linden also took off line 20 regions (mainly LH Test & MDB Test regions) and Dream seekers estate had a net weekly loss of 19 regions (9 New and 28 going offline). Linden Home represents now 15% of the Mainland after less than one year, and it is ever growing. But boy, talk about boring - I took a recent journey there and wandered around for hours. It was far from being a highlight of my SL journeys. Afterall, what can one do with 117 prims? Maybe retention rates would improve if people investing in their premium account, found out that there is more to SL than dead suburban life - not a club or store or anything else around - just endless houses made of ticky tacky, and most of them rather empty, even though most are occupied. | |

| Small growth of 16 regions this week , all Private Estates Total number of Main Grid regions is now 31546 ( 24886 private estates & 6660 Linden owned) 156 new regions were added and 26 returned to the grid, with 168 regions removed (33 were renamed and 2 came and went since last report) The largest change this week were the arrival of 23 new regions owned by Jessica Chung Estates (fronted by a 6 day old avatar) which include 4 old regions returned to the grid. The other less mysterious major change was the loss of 16 Dreamland ACS regions. Breakdown of Host Server Classes by Ownership:
