| I've added the results of the physical surveys I occasionally make to the gridsurvey region database. This means that when viewing the full report on a region you can now see details about Region Type (SKU Code/Description ) , Server Class and last known IP address as well as any other regions who have the same IP address, or whether the region is closed to public access. The first two are very static and should be reliable. The shared IP address relies on the length of time since I physically visit both that region and any it shares an IP with, so this is less reliable the longer it is since the last visit . Treat it as more of a starting point . Mainland IP addresses tend to be less volatile over time than private estates .  Whilst I record it in my database, for privacy reasons I have no plans to publish who owns any region. If you are really interested then make a visit to the region in question.

| Nascera Weekly Census A net gain of 1162 residents this week. Linden Home residents now number 18813, 6.6% up on last week. 64% of all 29337 homes are now occupied. The current take up by theme is as follows:
Most of the demand this week has , as most other weeks, been for the Modern theme. The weekly % change in occupancy by theme is as follows:
The 4 themes now have the following occupancy rates:
I've also had a look at Stipend figures as a guide to the number of Premium accounts . Previously when I've done this I've estimated the number using two different assumptions, the first estimate was assumes that all possible grandfathered stipend accounts are still premium. the 2nd assumes that all current premiums are at the non grandfathered rate. My final estimate has been the average of these two figures (c.72000 for Dec 2009). However on looking at Stipend figures for the period when LL still published Premium Account figures (up to Nov 2008) it looks like the lower estimate (where all grandfathered are still active) is a better guide for these earlier figures. Therefore assuming 99% of grandfathered premiums are still active and taking the stipend payments for the 1st 4 Tuesdays of March 2010 (i.e. ignoring this weeks double payment) there are 67901 premium accounts. The following chart shows the estimated number for each month. I feel that these should only be taken as a rough guide however, the past 14 months Stipend figures show a lot more volatility than I'd really expect. I doubt premium numbers have fluctuated as much as these figures indicate and I suspect some of the stipend data is missing for some months . However these figures do show an upswing in the last 2 months.  |

| The Grid contracted by 65 regions this week, mainly due to the removal of the old style Help Islands. Private Estates grew by 10 whilst Linden Owned dropped by 75 Total number of Main Grid regions is now 31219 ( 24707 private estates & 6512 Linden owned) 219 new regions were added and 46 returned to the grid, with 344 regions removed (51 were renamed and 8 came and went since last report) Most of the activity was amongst Linden owned regions but ACS Dreamland and Richmond Estates brought online 19 and 14 regions respectively, some of these were renames. Adult rated Regions grew by 16 to 2001, whilst General rated regions (the old PG classification) fell by 98 to 4619 Breakdown of current regions by Ownership and Classification:

| Nascera Time This week occupancy grew by 5.9% with another 1103 residents being given their keys to a shiny Linden Home. This brings the number of owners to 19916 and leaves us with a 68% occupation of all current available Linden Homes. The Modern themed homes are still very much the Nasceran favourite, right across all three continents. Occupation by theme is as follows
This represents the following weekly growth within theme
The popularity of Modern is slowly pushing up the occupancy rate to nearly 80%
At these rates of growth the current Modern Themed Linden Homes will be unavailable in 4 weeks time. When I look at number of prims used by each home owner I'm surprised to find that 23% of owners (4587) have used no prims at all, I'm assuming in most cases these are effectively land banking spare tier. Overall Linden home owners use a mean of 54 prims out of the 117 allotted (70 if you exclude those with no usage). |

I would be good to know just how many each week are under 7 days newbs. My assumption of course is that since people are signing up they'll probably get their house at the same time.. although that motd that's been around for the last day or so may make a mockery of that assumption...

| Out of 1419 new linden owners in the past week (there is some churn, the 1103 I reported earlier is the net growth) 15% are 7 days old or less , 21% 14 days or less and 24% 21 days or less So uptake is heavily slanted towards new accounts but there is still a lot of oldies signing up - the mean age is 498 days (median =337) |

Business: Satiated Desires Blog Entries: 1 | so out of 70,000 signups a week (10k a day isn't it?) they're getting around 150 premium accounts from it. That is a seriously poor conversion rate still. I'm feeling evil and feel I should turn a couple of my older accounts premium and grab a house or two just to up your mean age. Although I suspect the MotD may do that without my help.. and of course there was another housey housey email sent the other day so that may tempt a few of the oldbies back in. Next weeks stats will be interesting to see just how effective the email/motd was in increasing takeup. |

Business: Satiated Desires Blog Entries: 1 | be positive Des, 23% of the homes there are held by people like me - had 512 to spare and decided that increasing the costs to LL by grabbing the home was a bargain. I certainly have no qualms about increasing the cost to LL of servicing my premium accounts  7 day old newbies are probably more likely to stay and spend that a 7day non newbie - simply because of the cost.. yes I know there's lots of people who still pay premium and don't log in but I bet they're a small percentage of the premiums. Tyche said that something like 5% of under 90 day olds were mainland holders, it would be nice to know just how many under 90 day newbs there are on the estates.. in the end if those 150 accounts out of the 70k new accounts for each week are going to break businesses then we've got a lot more to worry about that linden homes. |

| Well it's 212 in a week (15% of 1419) out of c11,000 per day signups so yes thats is a poor conversion rate and we don't know what the base rate was before Linden Homes, However there are other targets such as converting existing residents to premium which has been more successful - there has been at least 9000 premium accounts added in March according to stipend payouts and increase of 15% in total premiums - A small number of the 600k past 7 day users but still quite a nice monthly growth. |

| Another week with a small net loss on the Grid, which had a net loss of 32 regions, this was primarily amongst Linden owned regions which declined by 50, whilst Private Estates had a small net growth of 18 regions. Total number of Main Grid regions is now 31187 ( 24728 private estates & 6459 Linden owned) 176 new regions were added and 38 returned to the grid, with 242 regions removed (40 were renamed and 4 came and went since last report) . The main activity and shrinkage was due to a large number last weeks new Welcome Islands being turned off. Apart from 8 Home Expo Regions coming online and 3 PA Consulting regions leaving , there were no significant changes in estates this week Adult rated regions fell by 9 this week to 1992 in total, whilst General (PG) declined by 48 to 4571. I've also added a new feature to the Region Display page on Second Life Grid Survey where in the Physical visit survey details you can request that a particular Region be included in the next physical survey . It will normally be resurveyed within 48 hours of the request , along with all regions currently thought to be sharing the same IP address. | It's Friday It's Nascera Census Day Yet another week of growth, with occupancy growing by 6.1% or 1218 residents . Total number of owners is now 21134 and 72% of all available Linden Homes are now occupied. Occupation by theme is as follows
Yet again the largest growth was amongst Modern themed houses, though the Tahoe A-Frames showed a spurt in demand this week :
Modern themed regions are now running at 85% occupation and all other themes are now over 60% occupied:
At these rates of growth the current Modern Themed Linden Homes will be unavailable in just over 2 weeks time. This week there were 4 regions (out of 819) I had to drop from the census because they were not accessible, so I was forced to use last weeks figures for these. All 4 were on the newer 3rd continent which is where most growth is occurring so the above figures may be a slight underestimation of this weeks growth. |

| Both private estates and linden owned regions showed growth this week with a net increase of 73 regions in total, (65 private estates and 8 Linden owned). Total number of Main Grid regions is now 31260 ( 24793 private estates & 6467 Linden owned) 181 new regions were added and 43 returned to the grid, with 164 regions removed (39 were renamed and 10 came and went since last report) The Jewel Islands estate should large growth this week, adding at least 27 regions and both FantasyLand and Kristaki Hudson added at least 7 regions (though some of these were renames). | April 2010 Private Estate Survey Here are the results of the April region survey of Private Estates to estimate Full/Homestead/Openspace penetration. The Sample was 5000. The main results are as follows
Of the 4294 accessible regions , 59.2% are Full Regions, 40.1% are Homesteads and 0.7% are Openspaces. The Margins of Error are +/-1.34% , +/- 1.33% and +/-0.23% respectively for the three figures figure at the 95% confidence level. This is a small increase in the number of Full Regions at the expense of Homestead Regions, though the change from last month is non significant. During this period Private estates had a net growth of 72 Regions to a total of 24813. The proportion closed to public access has slightly increased from 13.2% to 14.1%. 2 of the Full Regions and 2 Homesteads were Linden Developed Regions (i.e. sold new with content). Again as last month this is too small penetration to reliably track but even if non-significant is an increase on last month. 402 of the 1720 (23.3%) Homestead regions were at the new non-grandfathered rate, this is up 1% from 22.3% last month. Taking these figures a good estimate of private estate tier due each month is US$5,193,000 +/- US$63,000 . (this figure is calculated using known grandfathering rates but excludes any academic reductions and is rounded to the closest US$1000), this figure is marginally up on last month's estimate of US$5,138,000 , a rise of about 1%. The top 20 landowners currently control 25.3% (+/- 1.18%) of private estate regions, marginally down by 0.7% from last month , using list prices their holdings represent 20.5% of total private estate tier. The figures for the top 10 landowners are 20.1% (+/- 1.09%) of regions and 15.1% of tier (the larger estates tend to have a bigger proportion of homesteads than smaller estates). The Top 10 Estates by number of regions held are as follows:
The Margins of error for these Estate shares range from +/-0.64% for the largest down to +/- 0.25% for the smallest. Azure Island regions are currently still in the name of Azure Island Estates. The regions were running on the following distribution of server classes:
A lot more private estate regions are now hosted on Class 7's and the even newer 702's, last month this was 0.9% of all private estate regions, its now 5.5%, Hosting is 8 full regions per server, sharing primarily with Mainland regions. The Class 702's tend to share with Linden Home Full regions. Homesteads are not hosted on Class 7s Survey Details: This survey was based on a random sample of 5000 private estate regions drawn from all 24816 private estates on the grid on 24th April 2010. The actual surveying took place on 25th April 2010.A further 82 regions were randomly selected to top up the sample, replacing those regions which were unavailable (other than closed to public access) at the time of surveying. | Slow growth this week with the Grid grew by just 5 regions,Private estates had net growth of 12 regions whilst Linden owned declined by 7. Total number of Main Grid regions is now 31265 ( 24805 private estates & 6460 Linden owned) 183 new regions were added and 34 returned to the grid, with 219 regions removed (59 were renamed and 3 came and went since last report) The largest activity this week was the removal of 13 IBM regions, probably bigger news that the offlining of 4 Woodbury regions which did dominate the news this week. The 3 remaining Sun regions were renamed to Oracle regions.
