| I've just revisited the openspaces amongst the 1000 regions I randomly sampled in August this year. Back then in total I identified 383 Openspaces & 447 Full regions (the balance were no access). Of the 383 Openspaces 86 have since left the Grid , 70 since the OS announcement, 6 of these were renames (3 to other openpaces, 3 to Full regions probably indicating a conversion) of the 297 remaining openspaces 22 were no access and a further 8 had changed from openspace to Full region (again possibly indicating a conversion) . Taking these potential conversions into account this indicate that around 47% of Openspaces lost since the announcement have been used to convert into full regions, with 53% being abandoned. Whilst a small sample this implies that abandonments to date are much higher than many suspect - Of course there is a backlog on Linden conversions, so abandonment may currently be going through quicker than the conversions. 50 of the 447 full regions have gone since the survey , but only 12 of these since the end of October, In total, 14 of the 50 were renames (11 to other full regions, 1 to an openspace and 2 no access) - I was wondering if the growth before the announcement was heavily influenced by conversion of Full regions to 4 openspaces, but these figures tend to say otherwise. |

My Mood: SL Join Date: December 1, 2006 | Okay, then I can imagine what happened in my case - the person I bought the island from moved one of his islands into the space of the island i bought from him, and my island got moved out of his estate, or he put a new island in its place. You thought that the island I bought was renamed to something else, when in truth it was a renamed estate and moved elsewhere. |

| The grid contracted again this week , but by a smaller amount than the previous two weeks. With 206 new regions and 643 removed, the net loss was 437 regions. 12 of the new regions were Linden owned (effectively renaming of some generic Corsican regions and one special projects region Linden Lab Initiatives) They make up the small island just off the coast of the Northerly Corsica Continent, centered round the Linden Remembrance Garden and Linden Memorial Park regions - Currently all the regions are empty. My Mood:  SL Join Date: Originally June 5, 2007 | thought i'd toss this up since I ran into it, hope that's OK SL Metrics for October from Massively Second Life October metrics: More falls by Tateru Nino October metrics for Linden Lab's virtual environment, Second Life are not yet formally available, but Lab CFO John Zdanowski wound up giving out a link to the information in advance, so we have the figures to work with. September was not a good month by these metrics, and we were interested to see how October panned out.

The 4 regions for the Oatmeal estate are probably Linden owned (I have no public access) as they appeared in an area where all close regions are Linden owned. | This week the grid shrinkage slowed a little more, with a net loss of 305 regions to a total of 28016 regions (22835 private etstaes and 5181 Linden ) - Not the sky is falling 23 thousand plus which the Linden Stats reported in their Christmas Eve brainfart. ( http://www.sluniverse.com/php/vb/bus...ands-gone.html ) In total there were 207 new regions and 512 went offline.
