I have not had a chance to wade through the mass of data Tyche posted, but "parcels in a region" and "parcels owned by the same owner in a region" have different outcomes for what you can actually do with it. Disconnected parcels can be used for added prims, and adjacent parcels are used for added search listings and various other uses, but if they are owned by one person they can be used more or less as one building area with shared prim count. | |

Well here you are wrong , it is quite possible to coalesce them for statistical purposes. Whilst, to date , all my analyses of Mainland data has been at there distinct levels (Owners, Regions and Parcels) its quite possible to classify individual owners by the different types of land setting flags they have set across all their individual land holding parcels. Cluster Analysis, for instance would be a very suitable technique to segment Mainland Land owners based on the proportion of land they own which is set to each flag. A nice little task for the New Year , thanks .

| Mainland Census Feb 2010 Last week between the 18th and 21st I completed another full census of Mainland regions,This census included the bulk of Nascera 1 but was completed before Nascera 2 appeared. At the time of this census Nascera residency was about 60% of yesterdays figure - so this doesn't include another 4000 occupied Linden Home plots . Unless otherwise stated, all reported changes are since the December 2009 census, 2 months ago. Overview At the time of the census Mainland was 5662* regions , an increase of 216 regions since the Dec 2009 census. The vast majority of these were new Linden Home Nascera continent regions. All but 6 regions were directly accessible . and the 6 closed to public access were surveyed from neighbouring regions. The key results of this census is that Mainland has grown and there are significantly more Land owning residents than last census but most of these are using spare tier and no significant change in Monthly tier has occurred. Basically More people owning smaller plots and paying little extra . Abandoned land is increasing at about the same rate as Mainland expansion. Overview of Parcels The total number of individual parcels has grown to 148531 owned by 44067 unique owners (up 14.2% in 2 months). The average parcel has a Mean area of 2498.2Sqm (Median 512Sqm) and is 54.3% full , this is small decrease in size since last census. 26310 of these parcels are directly owned by Linden Lab. The Mean size of the remaining parcels was 2044.3Sqm (Median=512Sqm) and are 61.0% full. 42% of parcels are group owned, 50% for Non-Linden parcels. The number of parcels by size are as follows : ![]() All Non-Linden Parcels: ![]() Overview of Owners Mainland is owned by 44067 unique owners, 31179 individual accounts and 12883 groups, an increase of 5409 individuals and 61 groups. Each Non-Linden owner has holdings with a mean area of 5670.5Sqm - down by 731sqm (Median 1024Sqm) on average held in 2.77 different parcels. The top 3 owners by area are Linden Accounts
A further 159,808Sqm is Linden owned and held by the Maintenance group. Total significant Linden holdings come to 121,217,472Sqm 32.7% of the total, up by 11,348,704Sqm and a share increase of 1.9% . Whilst Non-Linden dropped in share, land ownership still increased by 2,807,072Sqm. The top 22 Non-Linden owners own 4.99% of all Non-Linden Mainland - a slightly smaller share than last census (5.05%). The Top 6 own 2.37%. Using same tier assumptions as in previous Census Total Monthly Mainland Tier comes to US$1,077,369 marginally up on last census (US$1,952). Mean Tier is US$24.45, Median is US$5 and 19893 landowners pay no tier above their premium subscription, 5137 up on last census. In general its a lot more residents since last time, but next to no new tier. Known protected land is 102,267,176Sqm (84.7% of all Linden owned), up 11.5% since last census. Known Abandoned land is now 13,651,232Sqm (11.5%) up 7.6%. Blank and other unknown descriptions comes to 4,938.064Sqm (4.1%) down 4.6%. So abandoned land is somewhere between 13,651,232Sqm and 18,589,296Sqm or 3.7% to 5.0% of all Mainland (Last census the range was 3.6% to 5.0% of a smaller area). Overview of Regions The 5662 Regions have a mean of 12.6 unique owners per region holding land in them (up 0.6 owners) , the Median is 9. The mean number of parcels per region is 26.2 and 83.5% have at least one Linden owned Parcel.1170 (20.7%) are completely owned by Linden Lab accounts, up by 42 regions. The busiest regions contains 79 different owners. The next census is due to be run in two months time (18th-21st April). * Current Mainland size including the 2nd Nascera continent is now about 5930 regions EDIT: Off thread but its my thread anyway , Today I also looked at the concurrency figures I've been storing since December last year. The following chart shows the Median Daily Concurrency series decomposed into 3 components, A seasonal component (Weekends tend to be higher than mid week) , An over all trend - Jan and Feb are up on December but the newer trend is flat and an irregular component which shows special cases such as the emergency rolling restarts on new years eve and also those in February.
