StarLight 4.0.1155 for Viewer 4.0.0

Yay - I'm back with a new computer - and a Happy New Year

The last version of StarLight should work OK with Viewer 4.0.0, but here is the new version that includes all the minor changes to the viewer since Viewer 3.8.5.

StarLight 4.0.1155 - for all OS's

StarLight 4.0.1155 - for Windows (Easy Setup)

I am sorry to say that, but since 4.0.1 is out StarLight makes the viewer crash or stop or something during logon when it says "Connecting to region". Only skin I can use is "default". I tried both the "all OS" version and the easy setup.

This is even more annoying as LindenLab forced me to install the new viewer update. So it won't make much sense to install the previous version of the viewer.

If you need any more information about my system or something else don't hesitate to ask.

I use the English language setting for the viewer. From the viewer about window:

Are you sure this is caused by the Starlight SKIN ??

I use the same viewer and the same starlight version (Original Teal Skin not default) and haven't had any probs either with login or tp'ing.

Are your login problems everywhere or just in one particular sim ?

The problem occurs anytime I try to use any other skin than the default. It's not related to a specific sim, I tried others. With viewer 4.0 (4.0.1155) I had no problem at all.

Don't know if anyone understands German, but the blogger Maddy Gynoid has the same problems as he wrote here: http://echtvirtuell.blogspot.de/2016/01/second-life-viewer-401-310054-ist.htm Scroll down to the end. He makes the assumption it can be related to the new radio buttons in the build tool texture tab.

Thanks for the tip-off. I will check it out, to see what may be causing it.

Mmmmm...this is proving a hard one to track down. When I use two different avatars to log in with different StarLight skins all work fine for me.

Intriguingly, I see that the new build tool texture tab referred to in Maddy Gynoid's post is in an element that I don't change, BUT seems to have something odd with it. It references "ComboMaterialType" which should be referred to somewhere in the settings - I have tried to find it in LL's version of the code but it is either missing, or in a place I am not expecting it. The toggle seems to work ok so I suspect it is well hidden, and maybe that is indeed the problem. Also the tool texture tab is on the build floater that I do have xml changes in so will have to check those to ensure there are no overlap issues. I will be working on this more later today, but if anyone has any ideas please shout.

I took a look into the logfiles and compared the one for the default skin and the one for the custom_light skin. These are the last lines in the log file before the viewer crashed:

My Mood:
Client: V4 with Starlight
First off, Thank you Hitomi for all the hard work you have put into Starlight over the years.

I am having the same issue as the person above.
I crash at logging in. I have tried logging in at several different locations with the same results.

In the meantime I have gone back to using 3.8.6 viewer. By the way I am on the LL viewer with starlight 3.8.1152.

Still the same problem, even with the new SL viewer 4.0.2 (312269). Seems to me the time of Starlight skins is over? If I would know how to do it, I would make my own skin. But I can't even find the sources for Phototools or other sources of knowledge.

Just installed the new 4.0.2 and can log in just fine. Only difference seems to be that i use the Original Teal Skin, but still can't reproduce any crashes.

If it was working for you under 4.0.1 it should still be fine under 4.0.2. I haven't given up on solving this, but I will need to set aside several hours to go through every single little change betwween 4.0.0 and 4.0.1 - it's usually the things you never expect that cause it. Expect something from me in the first week of April when I am back from hols.
