I'm glad to see that it's not a remake which is what I thought that it was going to be.

Looks like it might even be better than Mad Max 2, which was to me, the best of the original three.

I give thanks to the powers that be. They didn't call it 'Road Warrior'.

I wasn't expecting much out of this, just another Hollywood cash-in remake/reboot/sequel: but hot damn that trailer looks good. They definitely look to have nailed the style and action, I love the junk prosthesis.

Tom hardy is from London.
I don't think they could have found a better actor to fill the role of Max.
I love just about everything he has done.

Aaanyways hehehe
I kept hearing over the years that the 4th movie would be Max's son.
Basically that was because the many different delays in being able to make the 4th film and Mel Gibson getting too old for the role..

I'm glad they got Tom Hardy, but i'm confused as to where this film fits in..

Because in the articles i've read it's said that it's not a sequel or a prequel but more a take on road warrior..

Right now it looks like a remake of Road warrior, which i hope it's not..
I'm really confused because there are supposed to be two films
Mad Max Fury road and then right after, Mad Max Furiosa.
So now I'm wondering if they combined them and this ends up being after the road warrior and before barter town.

kind of like getting part of the road warrior movie and then the gap being filled before thunderdome.

i really hope it's something like that,because i want a 4th movie and not a remake

hehehehe but i'll still enjoy the remake if that is what we are getting..

Whether it's a remake or new story, I'm soooo glad it's George Miller doing it.

I've been doing a lot of looking today and this looks like it isn't a remake of road warrior.
There are lots of Easter eggs in the images and there are some in the trailer also..

The jacket itself which i just found one..

In Road Warrior and Thunder Dome he has the same jacket..
Thunder Dome takes place 20 years after Road Warrior.

Fury Road he also has the same jacket..
all with one sleeve missing as well as the same shoulder pad and style of jacket.

If you look close at the jacket in Thunder Dome and the one in Road Warrior, you will see that the one in Thunder Dome has 3 sets of stitches on the left sleeve..Really it's 4 but, the 4th one is up on the shoulder and i can't find an image with the 4th set of stitches for the Thunder Dome one.

There are no stitches in the jacket in Road Warrior, and in Fury Road there are 4 sets of stitches with 3 on the sleeve..

Also Dog is not in Fury Road other than making a cameo for a flash back scene.
That was just a nibbler they let out for the fans awhile back.

The falcon V8 interceptor just makes me want to rip my hair out, because it just messes up everything in trying to place this movie, unless he just finds another one.

It's fun looking for clues though hehehe

The movie takes places after "Mad Max" but before "Road Warrior".

Quote:
"Fury Road" picks up after the initial series opener, and is described by Miller as "almost a continuous chase."

Pursuit Special. It was incorrectly identified in The Road Warrior as a V-8 Interceptor but if you listen to the radio broadcasts in Mad Max they report a Pursuit Special has been stolen as he's driving it.

That aside.

Yeah, it looks like it has just one extra tank in the boot instead of the two in RW so maybe it is not the same one. Or more likely, it got mangled up in the crash in the footage and rebuilt into what we saw in RW. It is indeed the last of the V8s but not the only one so that does mean there may be others out there but for him to find one is stretching things a wee bit. The tyres look rather shot in FR so somewhere he must have managed to find a new set of skins to put on it when it was rebuilt (if that is what happened).

Either way, we'll have to wait and see.

Interesting. Most of the time when they add more canon to a set of movies they do not try to put stuff between 2 movies: that way is a continuity mine field.

Easier to do between Mad Max and Road Warrior though, because aside from the character of Max himself there's...no continuity at all between them - Mad Max is a dystopian ten-minutes-into-the-future sci-fi and Road Warrior is post-apocalyptic punk. In fact if Road Warrior left off the flashback at the very beginning there's really no reason it even has to be a Mad Max movie. It is, of course, and we know that, but there's plenty of room for a new movie between them I think.

Oh by the way...the official theatrical trailer is out!

Although granted it doesn't show a whole lot more than the SDCC preview did.

Well the only way it would be before road warrior is if the jacket wasn't clawed and stitched..
If he shows up with a jacket that isn't all torn up,Then it's before the tanker crash..

If it's already torn up..
It would be after the tanker crash after the grappling hook hooked max in the left shoulder when he was driving the tanker..

What it can possibly be though is, another story teller telling their tell.. Their version from when they entered the picture, and giving their perspective, continuing the gap after the bus pulls away and max is standing on the road at the end of Roadwarrior..

Someone that was there for the first RW this part and Furious

This was actually supposed to be two movies but, they ended up combining two movies into one..
The next one after madmax4 Fury road was going to be mad max5 Furious..

What i'm hoping is it is not going to be some reboot..That would just suck.
Because another story teller could make this trailer make sense..

Wow that trailer looks really awesome..
My comment before was on the comic con trailer clues..
It's still hard to tell..
The "Here they come again" line could be like,"Here we go again"..
Maybe a clue that it is after the other batter..
I can't wait to see it just to get the answers now..That and just want to see it so bad..
hehehe

No it wasn't..
If you look, all their cars are labeled as either interceptor or pursuit..

The guys at the beginning chasing The Nightrider are pursuit..
Max was an interceptor..

Nightrider had stolen a Pursuit Special not an Interceptor V8..
Fee Fee was giving max the last of the v8's to stop him from leaving the force..Meaning the last of their v8's.

The car Nightrider was driving in, wasn't a Ford Falcon, it was a 1972 Monaro.
The v8 interceptor was a 1973 Ford Falcon.

Basically it doesn't matter the type of car it is,but the division the officer was in as to the label it had..
So if it was max's car,it was an interceptor since that is what he was..

The bombastic orchestral music in the trailer is wonderful.

I've thinking a lot about the clues with these trailers..

It just hit me a little bit ago..In the last two movies it was always someone else doing the narrating and telling the Tell..
But in this trailer..It's Max..My world is Fire and Blood..
Here they come again..
Everybody's gone out of their mind........You're not the only one Max..

The person telling the Tell is Max..

So this could be parts of Mad Max 2,it may even have some of the first Mad Max in it..It could be flashbacks, because i heard there will be a flashback with Dog in it also..
Flashbacks would help update people that never seen the first two movies..
Give them background to Max's character..

Just a theory..hehehe

The car that Max drives (a black "Pursuit Special"; the phrase "last of the V8 interceptors" was not used until Mad Max 2: The Road Warrior (1981)) is a production car, the Ford "XB Falcon Coupe", sold in Australia from December 1973 until August 1976. The car in the film had a standard 351 cubic inch (5.75 litre) V8 motor.
Quote:
Also known as a "Pursuit Special" (although it is only briefly called by this name by the radio voice of the female dispatcher in the film) is the car built to convince Max to stay on the force.
My understanding is that if the car is colourful/says Interceptor on the boot lid, it is an interceptor. If it is black, regardless of make, it is a pursuit special. The colourful Interceptors are also Falcons.

Regardless, it is Max's iconic ride regardless of what it is called. A quick bit of digging led me to this find:

Shot in 2012 during filming. No idea where this fits into the "continuity" of Max's ride.
