The Master

Apparently this is the story of L Ron Hubbart founding the CofS. Could be great!

Nothing makes Scientology more sue-ie than criticism.

They're also going to have to listen to this douche-nozzle:

Joaquin Phoenix is a fantastic actor, and dircted by Paul Thomas Anderson. Wow, I can't wait to see this.

I was involved with Scientology when I was very young and it was still pretty new. My mother and stepfather dragged me to meetings and classes that I found very boring and sometimes silly. It seemed everyone in the group they belonged to believed they'd been someone very important in a previous life and that if you just stared at them long enough, you'd see it, too.

I will say that the people I knew were nothing like the things I read about. But, when my stepfather (who was a local celebrity) died. interest in my mother and myself vanished, as well. I convinced my mother to leave the group (there really wasn't even a church where we were yet) and we never looked back.

I did learn a lot of things from the experience, some of them actually things the church was trying to teach me and other things about the worship of celebrity and the shallowness of people in general - great lessons, but maybe a bit early for a ten year old. I'm looking forward to watching this movie and comparing it with my rembrances.
