I don't know what about this conversation reminded me of this; but it is the off-topic forum right?

They'd have to do some fancy acrobatics to get Two Face in the next movie. Much as i'd love to see it, since we didn't see nearly enough of him, I don't know how they'd make it believable without seeming like a cop-out.

i saw it yesterday, i thought it was well done, but i didn't like it.
i feel that if you're going to make a comic book movie, just go all out and make a comic book movie. don't try to blend real life grit and grime with crazy silly comic book stuff, you just end up with two mediocre visions slapped together.
i dunno, it just looked like an episode of NYPD Blue, but there's two silly guys running around, looking silly, and nobody brings up the fact they look silly. it just seemed to me that Batman and the Joker looked out of place, in their own movie.

it was well crafted though, and technically perfect, i'll give it that.

Well, IMO we've already had what, four cartoon/comic book type movies for Batman? Five if you count Catwoman, so honestly I like this as a change of pace. But obviously if it's not your taste it's not your taste, but I found it refreshing.

well, to clarify, i think the other movies were the same thing, trying to make rl look like a comic book.

i feel this stuff looks better if it's entirely animated, hand-drawn, or even clay-mated.

I think this whole super hero phase is capitalizing on a time where we need a hero to rally around. We as Americans need something to feel proud of and something to rally behind, which sounds like pretty much any comic book hero. It's hard to feel love and loyalty to something that doesn't feel real to you, so I think the movie makers are bringing them down to earth. It's not escapism, so much as an effort to try and make a fantasy more like a reality. If it seems feasible, it feels like there's a hope that it could possibly be real. I think that's one of the reasons Ironman and Batman have gotten such an incredible reaction (including of course both movies totally kicking ass), they're the most believable and possible superheroes.

I will say that overall, I thought Batman Begins was a better film. That said, Dark Knight was pretty damn good - I'll have a much better opinion after seeing a decent quality version not viewed from a website cam version

We finally saw it this afternoon, got my daughter up before her usual crack of noon wake-up time and we were in our theater seats by 10 minutes to 12.

All 3 of us thought it was awesome! Perfect summer blockbuster film. Fucking great movie. I loved it.

I loved it. My boyfriend liked it, but he's stuck on what he sees as right-wing propaganda throughout the film (which he despises).

Am I a bad Democrat?

Skipping to the end to avoid spoilers, I went to see this tonight and found it sold out (which I haven't seen since the 1970s). I asked if it had just opened (I'm pretty clueless about pop-culture) nope, last weekend. It got 95% on the tomatomometer The Dark Knight Movie Reviews, Pictures - Rotten Tomatoes and I have tickets for the late show.

I'm kind of surprised at myself.

Just got back from the theater. Both of my kids and I were unanimous - it fucking ROCKED!

2 hours and 48 minutes run time, I think, and I hardly noticed.

I love dark heroes, and I love ethical conundrums. And after seeing this, I finally understand the hoopla around Heath Ledger's performance. The man was absolutely brilliant, from his delivery down to the little mannerisms and vocal inflections. I think if I had to die, I'd want to be remembered for a tour de force performance like this. Bravo.

Yeah Heath Ledger totally pwned it.

I basically sat the whole film with my mouth like because it completely blew me away.

I loved that line 'Some people just want to see the world burn..' as the jokers face flickers on the television screen, it sent shivers down my spine.

Just seen it at the cinema today and was much better than watching on the net
Great film but worried about the 3rd one since all the decent villains, apart from Catwoman, have been explored.
I can't imagine Poison Ivy or Mr Freeze being in the next one.

spoilers

It seems like it was made to be the Joker again.
Two Face definitely didn't last long enough

Do you think the Scarecrow will come back in the next one? I enjoyed seeing Cillian Murphy for a brief moment in this one...

I saw this on imax, but we were in the third row, and off to the left - I couldn't really tell the difference in experience - maybe I have to see it in a regular theater now to compare. But some parts, especially the sonar bits, made me dizzy - there was so much going on my eyes couldn't focus on anything. So if you go see it in imax, get good seats!

I loved Heath Ledger's Joker - definitely lived up to all the kudos people have been heaping on it - and such a pity he's gone I can't think who could take his place - maybe Johnny Depp?

I thought that Two-Face's make up effects distracted me too much from Aaron Eckhart's acting - though I know that's how he looked in the comics.

I was annoyed (again) by that horrible voice Christian Bale had to use whenever he was Batman - I think the worst lines in the movie fell in his lap, sadly. It felt like everybody else had more character development than he did.

And... when was Batgirl on the phone??

I have a feeling everybody in Chicago's gonna be owning this dvd It was pretty awesome to see all the familiar landmarks everywhere. I also noticed that this movie was brighter than the others - a lot more daytime scenes.

Favorite scene is probably the nurse outfit and hospital scene

I loved that, along with some of Ledger's funnier lines. He was so good at being insane it was scary.

I think my kids and I agreed on our favorite part, but this is just us being nerdy.

When Batman crashes the batmobile and it looks like he's screwed, his computer controls are all telling him "Catastrophic failure". You figure he's finished. But then the car starts moving, shuddering a little, and OUT POPS A FREAKIN BAT MOTORCYCLE! With twin machine guns!

Both my kids and I were going "WHOA!!" in the theater when that happened. Fucking awesome.

Yeah totally! That was class! I think my friend nearly came in his pants when that happened cos it was just so fucking cool.

I did just think the whole thing was amazing, they only small gripe I had was batmans voice - sometimes it was just a bit too much, also, who was the guy that played two-face? I don't think he was a very good actor..
