Using the term *spoiler* before a post that contains them is only polite guys...keep that in mind. I don't want to know about certain things...

We were going to go see it last night, but dinner ran too long...I'm still very excited.

I thought it was pretty obvious what the content of the thread would contain.

Are you serious? People post about movies all over the web...a lot of them have zero spoilers in the text. Just because we start a movie thread, does not mean it has to contain direct information about events therein. And if they do post a spoiler, they mark it with *spoiler* or something.

That's not obvious at all--as a matter of fact, movie threads tend NOT to have spoilers, unless tagged as such. It's just a good habit to get into. I thought that was pretty obvious.

I'm really not being rude. Just returning the favor.

Not your fault...no one is at fault. Just a nit-picky thing internet movie-buffs have been quibbling over for years. If you did this on a mainly movie site...you could get your signature ripped off.

I took my 14 and 10 year old daughters to see this yesterday and we all enjoyed it so much. My older daughter had read the book as well as the other two and was disappointed with the ending, but at the same time thinks it just may be the opening scene for the next part.

No one has mentioned being excited about I am Legend. I love Will Smith. I'd watch him in a movie about belly button lint if he was the main character.

It's hard to admit that I was not aware of the books until now. I thought Golden Compass was vastly more interesting than LOTR, Star Wars, Harry Potter and especially the upcoming Chipmunks movie. Anything that deals with the nature of reality (blended with a heavy dose of Campbell) is aces in my book. And I really liked the character Lyra--the actress was very believeable. Can you imagine Dakota Fanning in the role?

Watching the movie was a bit like being in a hi-res version of Babbage Square, too, only no lag. Some brilliant production design and very good CGI, too.

Now, based on Josh's comment about the Magesterium being the Church, I must go read the books. Anything that makes the Catholics mad must be fun!
