"-ish"
| I enjoyed the first episode, but I can't say I was swept away. The Wizard of Oz holds a very special place in my childhood memories, not just because I'm from Kansas There were some clever scenes. The sets were extremely well done. But I thought it got hokey in a few places - like sucking life out of someone's mouth, or putting it back, or having glowy tats on your palms. Best line of the night was when DG said something about heart, and the Tin Man said "It's got nothing to do with heart". Zooey Deschanel (DG) has done some episodes of "Weeds" (Showtime), the Bridge to Terabitha and Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy. She has a charm onscreen, but isn't going to blow anyone away with the power of her performances. I'd give it a 7 out of 10. Maybe a 6.5 because SciFi channel has commercials

Business: Peregrine Salon | I like Zooey as well. Jennyfur and I just started on Weeds - disc one of the DVD set - and we're hooked. I can't wait for Zooey to show up now. |

My Mood: | Yeah, agree on some hokey bits, especially some of the dialog - but I think the delivery saved some of it - some other folks would have done a far worse job and made it really really bad. |

Business: Peregrine Salon | Sci-Fi channel has definitely put out some horrid crap over the years. Riverworld, Snakehead Terror, and Scare Tactics all come to mind. |

Tinman, eh, it jumped around quite a bit, kinda like Flesh Gorgon "oh we're lost way out in the mountains but hey there's the city gate" and "no no monsters help we die now except suddenly we're walking happily up an empty trail"
