Ghost Adventures

Has anyone seen this show on the Travel Channel? At first, it seemed like a rip off of Ghost Hunters, and the intro does seem a complete copy of Paranormal State (which is an excellent show, far better than GH) - but after watching the Preston Castle episode, I have to admit some of it really scared me. Perhaps it is fake, I don't know - but multiple people getting scratched and one of the people seeming possessed wigged me out.

I watch all three, Paranormal State is still the best without a doubt. Tonight i stayed the hell out of SL and watched this GH special, the lighthouse episode was kinda cool to see again! Either way it's great to see a real scientific approach being taken to the paranormal. Although i don't need science to tell me i see dead people.

I am glad someone else likes Paranormal State - some of those episodes have scared the hell out of me, and it is also quiet emotional at times. The Ghost Hunters lighthouse episode was kind of creepy - the only one that really scared me was the Waverly Hills one. Overall, GH annoys me.

Ghost Adventures is kind of cheesy - I wish they would not talk so damn much, but the Preston Castle episode definitely delivered ultimately. I can't believe the one guy went by himself down to the basement into the closet where they found the housekeeper's body to retrieve the flowers they left. Scary shit!

I don't think paranormal experiences are fake, nor do I think these shows are entirely fake either. Are there people who fake them, and are these shows often over dramatized for effect? Yes, absolutely. However, that does not mean these things do not occur.

The live thing was stupid - but try to catch the Preston Castle episode - still annoyingly talky, but it did scare me.

The only one we have here in teh UK is Most Haunted. I used to love that when it first started but then the hype took over and it became all about the show and less about the subject. It was far more objective and serious in the begining.

I can't even watch it if I wanted to now because I don't have SKY tv. I live in a listed building so can't attach a dish. Living TV (which hosts the show) is a sky subscription channel.

It was particularly annoying last week because they did an 8 day live show filmed in and around Lancaster where I live.

I love the paranormal shows! First started watching Most Haunted, and now I watch several of them (Ghost Hunters/Hunters International, Ghost Adventures, Paranormal State). There's a new one out, Extreme Paranormal...way over the top but still interesting. I think I enjoy Most Haunted the most; I think most of their stuff is made up, but I'm a bit of a history fanatic so I enjoy the historical locations and tales.

Oh, and a couple of years ago during a family vacation. We were in York..and happened to see Richard Felix leading a ghost tour!! We joined the tour and happily followed someone we'd seen on the television just the week before. (the episodes we were watching at that time, he was still the historian).

Kill and I took a walking ghost tour of Key West last year. You don't have to believe in the stuff to have fun with it. At the very least, you learn some interesting history about the city and hear some good stories. Plus, the pamphlet promised that we would have a "charismatic tour leader" and we were not disappointed.

Yeah, I like the historical aspect of these shows.

Sure these shows are fake, but they can be fun. They don't have the same sort of bite that they used to though. Earlier GH episodes seemed to be better than the newer ones. The first time they did the lighthouse in Florida was great.

GH seems kinda samey and clinical these days, especially compared to the old "dude, run!" era.

I prefer GhostHunters above the others. I do think some things are faked, they almost have to be for ratings purposes, but I also think some things are "real", in that they're unexplained by natural sources.

(I hate, though, the Ghosthunters forum on the Syfy site. Those people are absolutely rabid and not very welcoming unless you agree 100% that GH is teh evol and Grant and Jason fake everything possible under the sun)

I want to check out Ghost Adventures though, but keep neglecting to. Dame me!

I loved Richard Felix. He was always so enthusiastic and his genius with history was a big part of the show for me. I started not watching the show as avidly after he left.

He should have been given his own show.

his storytelling skills are excellent, they draw you in. I most like his enthusiam...giggling like a schoolboy when something 'exciting' was going on in the show; none of the theatrical stuff - he truly enjoyed what he was doing. I miss him too As of a couple years ago he was taking people on tours (Derby Gaol - 18th century jail situated in Derby, owned by Most Haunted's Richard Felix and reputed to be haunted), and something was supposed to be in the works for America but I don't know if it panned out.

Uh huh, because paranormal events are so incredibly commonplace that the GH crew can capture several of them on tape each and every week What are the odds?! These shows should be renamed "Confirmation Bias Theater"

Then you should check out the GH and GHI forums on the Syfy website. One poster has a website of his own on which he provides scientific analysis proving some of the incidents which were faked. I love Grant and Jason, big fangirl here, but even I strongly suspected the pull on Grant's jacket last year on the live Halloween show.
