Has Anyone Seen Enchanted?

Haw anyone seen Enchanted? I saw it over the weekend and loved it! Amy Adams was simply superb as was all the rest of thecast. The chipmunk stole the show though!!

My 8 year old son did NOT enjoy it!! Right after it started, conversation went like this:

son: "Psst. Mom, why are we seeing this?"

mom: "Shhhh! It gets better."

25 or 30 minutes go by.

son: "Its not getting better."

1. It wasn't about sports;

2. there were no gunfights or sword fights;

3. there were no car chases.

"It was pretty boring."

I haven't seen it but the guy who does movie reviews for my show (Jared Ewy) had his three nieces on for a review last week and they all enjoyed it and said their mom and dad did too.

Aw it looked like it would be cute.

I am impatiently waiting for The Golden Compass though. And I'm also scared.

I think most little girls will enjoy it. I think most little boys would rather get run over by concrete trucks than see it.

Loved it. But let's not forget James Marsden turning in a wonderfully comic Prince Edward. Between this performance and his turn as Corny Collins in Hairspray, he's quickly rising on my 10 Fave Actors list.

My six year old liked it, but he's a sensitive male. After the glowing reviews, I thought it would be funnier. Well cast and decent all around, but not going to replace the Princess Bride as the next cult classic.

I think I'll go see it, I can't resist a happy fun kid's movie. I love the idea of Prince Charming as a crazy hyperactive "good" Gaston.

I second Joshua's "OMG one more week.. OMG I hope they do it right!!" +

Based on right-wing Christians' call to boycott the film, I've got my hopes up.. plus the girl they got as Lyra looks like she might just be able to handle everything we're hoping from her.

I probably won't watch Enchanted, (because I'd rather torture myself with the Little Mermaid over and over again), but I will take my brothers to see the Golden Compass. It looks interesting.

Last spring Time did an awesome write up on "new fantasy" movies and pointed out something kinda interesting about Enchanted, Happily Never After, and Shrek.

They're hard to appreciate if you don't know the source material. Most of our "new" fantasy classics like Enchanted are spoofs of old classics. Without that grounding in Snow White, Sleeping Beauty, etc, a lot of the humor, irony and such are lost.

I do want to see it but, like everyone else, the Golden Compass is at the top of the list right now.
