Star Trek 9 was really, really, really bad too. At least 5 had Shatner in it. That Uhura strip tease was completely unforgivable, however.

Review - Star Trek V: The Final Frontier | TrekMovie.com

I've never seen a bunch of the so-called classics... Citizen Kane, Casablanca, etc... and I really don't care to.

I've never see any Star Wars or Star Trek movie, Lord of the Rings and it's sequels, The Matrix and it's sequels, Harry Potter and it's sequels.

Funny I own all the LoTR and Matrix movies. The old man likes that stuff.

Bruce Campbell is a surprisingly good mime

And wow... missing out on James Bond... that's a gigantic missing piece in the evolution of action movies

(also, Verti, it's probably better that you don't like The Crow, it's kind of painful to watch if you love it and know the story behind it )

Humor is a fickle thing, and without certain cultural contexts it's just impossible to get. Monty Python managed to be funny to a lot of people because it kept shuffling the types of humor it used. Some randomness, some satire, some slapstick, some irony, some parody etc etc. So even if you don't get the satire, you might still think the randomness is funny, or if you don't think the randomness is funny, you might think the slapstick is funny, etc etc. But not everyone will have any of those tickled and that's ok.... as long as you've seen it

I don't really like action movies, though. And I think the fact that certain films are labeled 'classics' puts me off on principle. I don't like the idea that I should see something, just.... because.

With Monty Python, "shop sketches" of various types in which the customer never gets what he asks for or the shopkeep goes mad is pretty standard fare:

Cheese Shop
Dead Parrot
Spam
Argument Clinic
Tobacconists (Hungarian Phrasebook)
Off License (I've caught poetry)
Ethel the Aardvark Goes Quantity Surveying

Something for everyone!

I resisted American Idol for the first 3 seasons, but now I'm an avid watcher of the ludicrous crap they pass off as music. I'm in it for the lulz but at least I admit I watch it, UNLIKE SOME OF YOU

That said, the 2 episodes of Dancing with the Stars I've seen lowered my IQ about 40 points. And I have never seen 1 minute of Survivor, Hell's Kitchen, The Amazing Race, America's Next Top Model, America's Got Talent, Wife Swap, Biggest Loser, or <insert whatever other reality show you can think of>. Other than AI I'm just not a fan of reality TV.

There's enough drama in my life already, thank you.

Atia and I watched the first couple of seasons of American Idol and liked it. And we enjoyed the first few seasons of Dancing with the Stars, but this year it's meh. We like them because they are talent competitions, as opposed to drama-fests disguised as competitions.

We roll our eyes every time some new "reality show" comes out. I've long contended there's no such thing as a "reality" show, short of watching surveillance camera footage. If people know they are being filmed, they are automatically not being "real".

America's Next Top Model.....

It's not good, it's horrible, it orbits Tyra's enormous Shatner sized ego, but pretty women doing pretty things in (generally) pretty clothes, with a side helping of absurdity and flaming fabulosity means Siyu likes it

My very favorite reality show, which I forgot to mention, is "So You Think You Can Dance". Other than the cheesy title and the cheesy judges, I am blown away every week by the absurd talent of the dancers.

Last season may have been my very favorite season ever. One couple's Bollywood routine blew my mind - and this coming season they plan to have an entire week dedicated to Bollywood

Found it! Here's Joshua and Katee dancing to Bollywood - they were my favorite 2 dancers (Joshua won the contest, and Katee was the top girl dancer):

Count me on the list of never seen LOTR. I tried to watch it either when I was preggers or right after I had my second. Fell asleep quickly.

I've never watched Sex and the City. I've also not watched Battlestar Galactica (not the new one, at least), but I hear about it from my sister.

I don't watch reality shows, either.

hmmmm... that's about all I can think of right now.

Surreal, come on. Seriously. There's a certain level of cultural awareness that's necessary. You have to be able to get all the jokes. I made my kids watch the first fifteen minutes of 'West Side Story', and they understood why.

At least see 'Wizard of Oz', you will love it.

.
I've watched about 20 mins of gone with the wind and wizard of oz, have never seen either all the way through and have no desire to

The people I live with watch it (and about four other reality shows), so I have the misfortune of having to overhear the "music."

Though at least it's not as bad as those times I overhear them watching Millionaire Matchmaker. Brr.

Never seen Monty Python, I'd rather eat glass than watch American Idol and I hate Friends and Sex and the City (self- absorbed whiny 30 somethings annoy me to no end). Hubby made me watch Princess Bride and I'm still wondering why, I've never texted or sexted, I don't have an MP3 player or a cell phone either.

I feel old and outdated now

Exactly why I've never seen LOTR. The entire genre holds no interest to me. And like you, the quickest way to ge me to run away from something is to call it "Must see".

Staying on movies, I don't do Netflix, or even Blockbuster, I still go to the theatre, or use On Demand on cable, or my fairly extensive DVD collection. I don't watch movies or TV on the computer, preferring my 46" TV. In fact, my computer doesn't even have a DVD drive.

My pop culture confession is...

I don't really like movies. They bore me, for the most part.

I do however love reading Wikipedia movie synopses.
