My Mood: | The original Terminator Just thought I would link to the Outer Limits version of the story that The Terminator was based off. At first, Cameron gave no credit to Harlan Ellison for the plot, but the studio was sued successfully and since then, every Terminator product has had to credit this story. Do you think they are close enough to warrant the law suit? BTW, look out for the scenes in the building that was also used extensively in Bladerunner ![]()

I'm better than you
| I don't see it except for gross similarities. Guy from the future, humans almost destroyed by terrible enemy, technology from the future .. beyond that I don't see it. But I totally believe Ellison sued ... the man may be a good writer who hand a hand in a lot of important sci fi stories ... but he's also a dick who thinks he's a god. I'm surprised he hasn't started his own version of Scientology for himself.

My Mood: | It does seem to have very little resemblance to The Terminator and I can't see how Ellison succeeded in sueing them. BTW, here's another shot of the building from this Outer Limits and Bladerunner - it's the Bradbury building, named after another science fiction writer, so it's only fitting that it has been used for science fiction films (it was also used in Wolf) |

My Mood: | Here it is in Bladerunner ![]() I remember my first night in Tokyo - a typhoon was about to hit and we went to the top of the hotel, to the skybar - looking out across rain-swept Tokyo, all of us said "holy shit - the city from Bladerunner is real" |

Yes, it looks very interesting on film, but in person it's a real shithole. It's in the very middles of Los Angeles skid row. The real shitty part too. Used to work in a clinic 2 blocks from there. Anyone remember the stories of homeless being dumped there after being tossed out of county general hospital? Even paraplegics dumped on the side walk without wheelchairs? Yeah, that was about a block from the Bradbury where they were getting dumped. If you come to L.A. do NOT go sightseeing at the Bradbury. Just come to my house, give me your wallet and let me stab you with a CLEAN knife. | |
