Max Payne

Anyone remember the Max Payne game released on the pc some years ago? Was an awesome game that I loved playing. Now a movie has been released starring Mark Wahlberg as Max Payne and looks pretty cool.

I loved the Max Payne games, but I have a problem with Marky Mark in the hard-boiled detective role required for a psuedo-noir film like this.

I hope he proves me wrong.

Loved the Max Payne games as well, and when I saw the trailer for this film and saw Marky Mark playing Max I wasn't too thrilled at it..but I'm willing to give it a chance.

Never saw the Hitman film although I had seen the trailer for it.

Didn't Uwe Boll make Hitman? The anti-christ of the gaming industry, and yet Postal was at least mildly entertaining (the first Boll film I managed to watch without stabbing myself with a sharpened celery stalk)

Hitman Movie 'Uwe Boll Bad'?

So the hitman movie is out in the States and reviews of it are hitting the web. The flick has thus far received generally negative reviews, with some critics going so far as to call it "Uwe Boll bad." And you'll have to agree, that's pretty bad.

That one actually might turn out decent...I loved the games...so, looking forward to this. Maybe the movie even triggers a third part...

As for Uwe Boll, yes he is bad, and he makes me ashamed of being his countryman...I'm sure he has austrian heritage somewhere...

He's not as bad as Jerry Bruckheimer though...

I read that it looks like Rockstar already is working on Max Payne 3 since Remedy is still working on Alan Wake.

Could this be the first computer game to movie that's actually good? It looks very promising!

The reviews are looking very bad for Max Payne, so far. Not surprising considering they waited til Thursday night to let reviewers see it, which is about normal for studios to do when they know it is a crappy movie. Which sucks because I had high hopes for this one.

Eh, enough people liked Tomb Raider for em to make..what, 3 movies? Blargh.

And Hitman was..okayish, I guess. Given the simple source material. Postal was labeled by many as an actually entertaining movie (it will probably remain the peak of Uwe Boll's filmmaking)

I've not seen it, or played the game itself much, but they royally messed up Max Payne by adding SUPERNATURAL ELEMENTS.

Wtf?

Not mentioning the actual gameplay, but they took a wonderful crime/noir story (MP's storytelling is awesomesauce AFAIK), and turned it into a mess.

One can hope that one day they'll learn what some comic->movie translations have managed during the last years (not counting the bad releases). I mean jebus, the new batmans, and the first X-Men movie are awesome adaptions, given the source material. So was Sin City and V (altho the V author hated it).
