The producers are also interested in John Malkovich and Kurt Russell. Whomever takes his place the character he plays is described as a Doctor/Scientist outsider to the CSI unit who has the same genetic profile as a serial killer but hasn't previously acted on any homicidal impulses. Sounds like they are trying to make him into the Anti-Dexter.

Fishburne and Malkovich I could see, but I'm not sure about Russell.

I wouldn't mind any of them. Fishburne or Malkovich would definitely add their own intensity, and Kurt Russell...well, he's Kurt Russell!!

I really liked Liev Schreiber's Kepler character. Too bad they killed him off.

I say Kurt.

Malkovich is way intense, Fishburne would make movie deals and leave likely. Though hands down he would be my choice if he was more washed up as an actor.

I don't know how I will respond to CSI without Grissom. Grissom's coolness was in his manner. He had a cool head and a great wit. I see Kurt for that. Fishburne would try to kick someone's ass and Malkovich would screw with their mind.

Yeah , Grissom had just the right amount of intelligence without being a geek and dry humor to balance it along with a quiet "Hey Goddamnit. I'm the boss here" when it looked like the group was getting too far off the leash. Vegas is the only CSI I watch, mainly because of him. Alright, and Nick is cute.....

I watch Vegas and Miami. I tried to watch NY for the longest time. I LOVE Gary Sinese. The show just doesn't do it for me. Though it has a way cool theme song.

Grissom and Caine are awesome.

No I don't like him either Brenda and only ever watch the original CSI or CSI: New York. I'm really saddened to hear William Peterson is leaving and loved his character. Intrigued to see what Fishburne will bring to the series if he gets it.

Its now official Laurence Fishburne will replace William Peterson some time this season. It has been announced when Fishburne will be on CSI, ninth episode, but he won't replace Peterson at that time.
