Films with great endings...

I had to do it before someone else did

As mentioned before, the original Italian Job has a fantastic ending

I also liked

The Prestige

Raiders of the Lost Ark

V for Vendetta

I am tempted to say Cloverfield too, simply for the last words as "something" crashes into the sea in the background

Texas Chainsaw Massacre (the original where she totally loses her mind)

The Terminator (there's a storm coming)

Bambi II ... so much better than Bambi

Oh and also The Jungle Book - Totally right that Mowgli was taken into care - Those irresponsible animals were not fit guardians for a child - There should have been a public inquiry but I can live with the ending they had .

I can't think of anything! Though I do agree that the Usual Suspects had a pretty kickass ending. American Beauty was pretty good, too.

Noooooooooooo! All those minis jettisoned over the cliff like so much scap metal? As a mini owner, that sent me into apoplectic shock! Oh, you mean the teeter-totter at the *very* end. Ok.... I was almost recovered by that point.

Batman Begins - Aahhh the Joker Card & "I'll look into it."

The Empire Strikes Back - Great way to end the second and leave you waiting for the sequel

And my personal favortie of recent memory (sorry I'm at work and can't think straight...)

Casino Royale - "The name is Bond, James Bond", Excellent way to finish off the movie.

I thought the end of North by Northwest was great. Not 'great' in the sense you mean though. That train entering that tunnel was just so cheeky for the time.

Whilst now a little hackneyed , the first time I saw Planet of the Apes I thought that was a great ending, the original that is.

Also for its time The Wizard of Oz - with all the actors surrounding Dorothy as she comes to .

At least one person has already mentioned The Sixth Sense. These days, M. Night Shyamalan is kind of a joke- to the point that his name was never mentioned in any of the promos I saw for his newest movie, The Happening.

But I'll tell you what: We saw The Sixth Sense in the theater right after it came out, and at the end of the movie, when the ring dropped the entire audience gasped in surprise. It was one of the coolest moments I've ever experienced in a theater.

I loved the ending of '12 Monkeys'. I loved the idea of time going full circle and just when you think nothing can be changed the woman next to the infection man introduces herself as 'insurance'.
