Marvel's Black Panther

We've been quiet about this one, but looks like it's popular.

'Black Panther' shatters box office records, scores a huge $218 million Presidents' Day weekend
Quote:
Marvel's long-awaited release of "Black Panther" opened over the weekend and exceeded all domestic box office industry projections. It took in an estimated $192 million over three days and is looking to make $218.2 million by the end of Presidents' Day, according to boxofficepro.com.

That shattered the all-time February opening weekend held by "Deadpool" in 2016 ($132.4 million) and its four-day Presidents' Day holiday earning ($152 million).

The $192 million three-day take is the fifth-best ever, passing "Avengers: Age of Ultron" ($191.2 million). For a four-day opening, the movie is fifth-best all-time, knocking out "Age of Ultron ($204.4 million).
I couldn't see it this weekend, but do want to catch it while it's in theaters.

The plan right now is to go with my parents and aunt and uncle Tuesday.

I guess Tuesday is senior discount day or something, so they like to go then.

SEE IT NOW. Drop everything, go to a theater and SEE BLACK PANTHER NOW!!!!!!!!

Great cast. Complex and sympathetic villain. Strong female characters. No filler, fluff, tie-ins. And the best Disney Princess since Liea...

Saw it last night in an Alamo Draft House theater.

Beer makes everything epic, but this movie is super extra even without beer!!

This movie is top quality, up there in greatness with The Dark Knight, the first Avengers movie, Iron Man 1 and the last two Captain America movies. I'd put it slightly ahead of Civil War, and about even The Winter Soldier. Wonder Woman is also in this group of great stories. It has some shaky CGI toward the end but overall it's a strong character piece, one of the most thoughtful and thought-provoking overall, top quality world-building, and definitely one of the best villains in all comic moviedom.

All the hype I am really looking forward to it. I wasn't too keen on Civil War. The Winter Soldier is probably still my favorite by Ragnarok is right there on top. Its just such a different film than Winter Soldier its hard to direct compare the two.

Sadly my local theater wont be screening it, mostly cause they usually spent January and February running Oscar nominees and some awful kids movies, nephew was really just as sad as me, weve been waiting for this one with anticipation, so i guess ill have to wait a few months to rent it so we can both watch it.

"Tolkien" white guys. Martin Freeman (Bilbo) as the CIA agent introduced in Civil War and Andy Serkis (Gollum) reprises the villain Ulysses Klaue from Age of Ultron.

I disliked Wonder Woman so much Im not sure if I want to trust reviews about another Super Movie. The trailers look amazing but I feel kind of burned still. Ill probably wait and watch it on demand.

So I have seen it. It was pretty good. Its kind of nice to have a hero where the whole world isn't really at stake. A few thoughts in a spoiler, relatively light on the spoiler but not entirely without.

That makes sense.

I mean I kind of got that it was orchestrated, but it felt like one extra little bit could have clarified that it was.

I haven't seen this film yet (1), but often useful details get dropped on the cutting room floor when making the final theatrical cut. The "director's cut" puts them back and makes more sense.

(1) - The movie theater in my town is now a community stage play place, and the 8-plex the next town over has been abandoned for years. Ironically, the mall next to the 8-plex is now Atlanta Metro Studios, and about 10 miles away is Pinewood Atlanta Studios, where a lot of the Marvel films are made. They make movies here, you just can't watch them.

Just saw it. Definitely two thumbs up! =)

Visually, I really enjoyed the art style/theme they went with for the tech and costumes as well.

On an additional note, its not for everyone, but I really loved the soundtrack. A very nice blend of electronic and African tribal music.

I LOVED it. It felt good to like it since I hated the last few movies I watched.

Also, I thought I'd share this:

Well, I mean, comparing the quality of a DC Comics movie to a Marvel Comics movie is like apples and oranges.

DC's movie lineup just feels like a "me too" attempt.

I would like to see Wonder Woman, but I HATED Batman Vs. Superman so much I was pretty hesitant to go see another superhero movie for awhile.
