Maybe they'll do L. Neil Smith's Lando Calrissian stories next.

The alt-right will be SO confused by that. I mean they're straight Libertarian propaganda, but the hero's black!

Danny Glover as young Lando? Works for me, I'll give it a shot.

I'm still worried. Didn't they have to go back and reshoot a ton of stuff or something on this because it played horribly? Or am I thinking something else.

I liked Rogue One a lot more than Episode 7, so at least this kind of has the right setting. I disliked Episode 7 enough that I have not really had any interest in seeing Episode 8 yet, which makes me a bad geek I guess.

Not as such. The original directing duo of Phil Lord and Chris Miller were fired part way through filming (due to "creative differences") and Ron Howard was brought in to replace them. Although the upshot was of course some re-shoots.

ETA The rumour was that Lord & Miller were treating it too much like they were making a comedy film, allowing improvisation on set and deviating from the script.

Han Solo movie directors believed they were hired to 'make a comedy' - Business Insider

Easy fix.

SCENE ext Han and Lando are by the boarding ramp of the Falcon

Lando: Can't believe he sold me the Falcon and for so little. I've got enough left over to load her down heavy with cases of Colt 45.

Han: Hey, isn't that the Beyonce' XXII over there?

As Lando looks over in the direction Han is pointing, we get a close up of Han grabbing the keys to the Falcon

Han: YOINK!

Han runs up the ramp, closing it behind him while Lando does a series of double takes

Lando: Why you rascal, that was a gonk droid! And hey, my keys!

The camera pulls back as Lando shakes his fist and the closing title rolls in on a fade to black

Maybe that guy who did the "good parts" version of The Hobbit will do an "all Lando" cut of Solo.

Pewpewpew movie for the old fan guys, where the females is decorative passengers and not drivers?

What a relief that must be after SW VII and VIII....

But I'm still going to see it, of course.

Need some SW fix until there is more Adam Driver in 2019.

Disney accused of plagiarizing poster artwork

French artist Hachim Bahous has accused Disney of 'ripping off' artwork he did for a series of album covers. They do look remarkably similar:

A lot of the news sources for this featured the original Facebook post which seems to have been taken down, but the news sources below still have the images:

Solo Poster Designs Stolen? French Artist Wants Credits for Star Wars Art

Disney in trouble over Han Solo posters that look like 2015 albums | Daily Mail Online

io9 also has an update with a comment from Disney:

https://io9.gizmodo.com/disney-has-b...sta-1823500073

Disney: "the posters were created by an outside vendor and itís something we are currently looking into."

Using letters to mask an image is hardly an uncommon style.

It isn't, but there are far more similarities here than just that.

There's there same colour scheme for a start, even the background images and composition are similar. Plus they have that same old, sepia tinted/weathered paper style going on too.

I think the close similarities are undeniable and go beyond just using text as a mask.

This preview has moved my attention meter from meh to Starz+ which is almost Starz++ which is practically theater.

Saw this today. NO SPOILERS... It's good, not as good as Rogue One, but better than The Last Jedi in some ways. It doesn't have that 'epic' feel. It doesn't really feel like Han Solo, either, but it's okay enough. Chewbacca is great. Lando ... eh. Qi'ra... now, Qi'ra is someone I would like to see again.

It feels like they intend to flesh out the Star Wars universe to make it more like the MCU, especially given a bombshell cameo that appears at the end of this film plus the announcement of a Boba Fett movie. What is funny is that they're filling blanks of the past that the animated series didn't, apparently (I haven't seen those) instead of filling out the universe in the same time period that the current Episodes are in.

Definitely, agree with you, also watched it last weekend and it really doesn't have the "epic" feel
