Meh.

But, it could have been worse.

A lot worse.

I like it. ^_^ Not what I was expecting, but then, that's no bad thing. I do hope they let 13 switch things around a bit, as 12's done somewhat, rather than sealing their attire as immutable, as was traditionally the case.

If you want heinous costume design, just remember what happened to Catwoman in 2004..

I'm a sucker for quirky so I love it. Slightly Mork and Mindy, though...

I love the choice for pants. The jacket of course a must for a time lord. Suspenders, boots and socks are the perfect touch of quirky. The shirt is throwing me off though. It seems to casual and too ... I don't know, young maybe? Not for the actress, but for the character. I can't picture The Doctor in a tshirt. I think a dress shirt, even quirky pattern or style, a big bow or even piratey, but something more blousy would have felt more like the character.

Not bad, the suspenders and highwater pants make it whimsical, but they can emphasize the overcoat for a more dramatic look.

I thought that what she wore in the original 'reveal' video was better. On the other hand, most of the recent Doctors have changed their look through the course of the series, so maybe this outfit will change as well.

Didn't one of the Doctors wear a hoodie and t-shirt sometimes? I guess it depends on the personality of the Doctor.

Strangely the only thing I do not like in the outfit is riding the pants that high. Yes, I know, a reference to Troughton. This is just a still though, they may look different when we see her moving in them.

Yes, I would not be surprised if she slowly alters the basic look over time. Not enough for some troll to say 'typical woman, has to be a clothes horse' but for people to say 'umm, yes, if you wear the same shirt every day people slowly stop hanging around you'.

I always thought that was a bit odd about the Doctor. Many of the companions did not wear the same thing for years (whether they had a look or not). The Doctor can go centuries without changing clothes though.

They can wear the same thing for years because you don't have to wash Gallifreyan clothes: they regenerate.

I love the outfit, but the coat seemed too new and crisp. I wish they'd age it a bit and give it some character.

What if the orange spacesuit that we see several incarnations of the Doctor wear is the only real outfit, but it is made out of the same material as the psychic paper?

Gallifreyan clothes always fit, because they are bigger on the inside.

It's nice to see actual quirky again, a trait that's been sorely lacking from modern Doctor's wardrobes. In this era we've had Midlife Crisis Guy in Leather Jacket, Man in a Suit, Oxbridge College Professor and Sometimes I wear a Hoodie Man. This outfit strikes me as a welcome return to the Doctors of old.

We've had Main in a 1960s Suit AND Man in a Victorian Suit.

I wish I could take complete credit, the post was inspired by a much longer one that I found on another message board I frequent:

Quote:
A Brief History Of The Doctor's Costumes

William Hartnell: His costume eccentricity is that he wears baggy golfing pants in the middle of a reasonably fancy outfit. Spends almost as much time doing up his weird tie right as Tennant's does looking after his hair.
Patrick Troughton: His costume eccentricity is that while his clothes are reasonably fancy they are also rumpled to hell and back and clearly a couple of sizes too large. He looks like all his clothes are hand-me-downs and he keeps his spares in a burlap sack, which he hits with a stick when angry or frustrated.
Jon Pertwee: His costume eccentricity is that he perpetually wears an opera cloak that looks equally out of place in every context. Has so many ruffles even Excrucians are jealous. Single-handedly saved the velvet industry in two different time periods.
Tom Baker: His costume eccentricity is yes. At heart, it's reasonably fancy, he just wears an enormous coat, an enormous hat, and The Scarf to make it look like it isn't. Also, if a comb has been within a mile of his hair it got eaten.
Peter Davison: His costume eccentricity is that he wears a sprig of celery at all times. Also that he perpetually looks like he's worried an old-fashioned cricket game will break out on the village green and he won't be wearing his old-fashioned cricket uniform. If a dark colour comes within five miles of his outfit he hits it with cricket balls until it goes away.
Colin Baker: His costume eccentricity is Jesus wept. If you ran a combine harvester into an abandoned charity shop and put together a garment from whatever you could salvage from the wreckage, it would probably be more stylish than Colin Baker's costume - although somewhat less visible on dark nights.
Sylvester McCoy: His costume eccentricity is that he wears more question marks than the Riddler. If you took those off he'd look like a person who has a job, although one where they don't need to worry about the boss being cranky about their having never combed their hair once in living memory.
Paul McGann: His costume eccentricity is that his costume is literal Wild Bill Hickock cosplay. Combined with Paul McGann's face and hair he looks like Snape's more sociable older brother.
Christopher Eccleston: His costume eccentricity is that he wears a leather coat everywhere. He looks like he's just bought a motorbike and wants everyone to know about it.
David Tennant: His costume eccentricity is that he sometimes puts a long coat on over his suit, but always in ways where you can see the suit. He could show up at your work party and everyone would just think he worked in someone else's department.
Matt Smith: Another suit, but with a tweed jacket and bowtie instead. His costume eccentricity is no eccentricity at all because bowties do not count as an eccentricity, and whenever he finds an interesting hat it gets blown up by the end of the episode. He looks like someone took thirty years off that pipe-smoking old professor.
Peter Capaldi: His costume eccentricity in his most iconic outfit is that he has a red interior on the dark coat he wears over his dark waistcoat and dark pants. Occasionally he breaks the trend of the last two Doctors by occasionally wearing a jumper.

Those high water pants have got to go. No ands, ifs or buts about it.

She reminds me a bit of Rose Tyler. Must be the hair.
