After 4 very good and very successful Netflix series, Marvel and Netflix were due for a dud and the 13 episode Iron Fist is it.

Here's the secret to watching Iron Fist: You really only need to watch the first and last episodes. It's actually pretty good in a two hour span.

I've been watching it with my best friend while he's here, and we enjoy it. The acting is pretty terrible apart from David Wenham and some of the dialogue is straight out of 70s-era kung fu movies so .. that's the spirit we take it in.

Kind of like The Mummy: hammy acting and impossible to take seriously as anything but fluff. Except with ninjas and immortals and some guy who can't jerk off or he'll pulverize his dick, instead of mummies.

I've enjoyed the first 5 episodes even though the first few episodes drag a bit. To me it looks like they didn't do a good job of filming the fight scenes. It makes him look like he knows the basics and didn't train much for 15 years. Also some of the guys he has fought he should have beat them much sooner. He is suppose to be a bad ass martial artist even without using his "Iron Fist."

Just finished the last episode about an hour ago. I liked it. Maybe not as dark and dramatic as the previous Marvel entries, but it certainly wasn't bad. It did make me even more excited for The Defenders.

One ironic thing I noticed early on:

I haven't watched it but I just want Heroes for Hire with Luke Cage and Iron Fist.

I thought it was just OK. There were a lot of episodes where I'd get up and wander away from the TV because it wasn't really holding my attention. I also wasn't wowed by most of the fight choreography. I did finish though, mostly so I'd know what was up with Danny when Defenders rolls around.

Up to episode 10 and so far it isn't bad. Which is intentionally damning with faint praise. Mostly I just don't buy Danny Rand as a badass. His fight scenes are weak, and he is surrounded by actors who have more martial arts training. This series is weak at the center. The supporting cast are carrying it. The are some good, complex characters and some engaging story lines, but most of them are when Danny isn't on screen.

ive never read the comic book and this is the first ive ever heard of 'iron fist'. i think its the weakest of the marvel series yet.the cheesiness of that chinese girl character just pushes this one too far over the edge imo.
of them all, luke cage is the best so far.

I think that the problem with the fight scenes didn't have to completely be due to the training but more of how it was filmed. The best fight scenes were in the first season of Daredevil. Especially that one take hallway scene.

Totally agree. But Daredevil, Jessica Jones, and Luke Cage are supposed to be street fighters. Iron Fist should look like he was raised by warrior monks.

Just finished watching season 1. Which I enjoyed, mostly because of Madam Gao, secondarily because of the rather comical Meecham family dramas, thirdly... well... eye candy.

I think that's down to the camera work and the editing, more so than any deficiencies on the part of the actors. I think it fails to bring that warrior monk vibe because of how it's filmed. The production teams seem to have approached it like the other Netflix/Marvel properties when they should have been treating it as wuxia.

Anyway... Five episodes in and it's probably my least favourite of the shows so far. It's not nearly as bad I think, as some of the early reports were suggesting. It's still watchable, just forgettable.

So I finished watching the series, and my conclusion is most of the major characters in the show are terminally stupid, except for the ones who appeared in the previous related shows.
