Hey guys, while on the road my faithful Toshiba died on me. I need a new one, stat! What would you guys recommend? Must work well with Second Life and I would prefer under $2k (is that reasonable?.)

I've already checked out the following:

Let me re-phrase the question ... If Obama needed a great laptop for around 2K to defeat McCain and force Palin into a degrading life of prostitution ... which laptop would you suggest?

Aimee, you're a pro. You spend many hours a day in front of your lap top, as do I.

Spend the extra few bucks for the next few years and go with what I suggested. It costs more, but if you drove 12-16 hours a day, wouldn't you want to be in the best, most fuel-efficient luxury vehicle, with the most features available? Also, just check out Vigor's Entire Site - they have other rigs, in addition to the 17" beast I have (which comes in at 12 pounds, or 14 with power supply - think about it as extra exercise during travel!). To compare, my last-gen CyberPowerPC laptop (I'd never recommend them to anyone, by the way), came in at 22 pounds with a 5 pound power supply... for less power. Vigor rocks Alienware's world. I know Cory Edo also likes Falcon NW, who provide similar rigs (same components, different company) as Vigor.

If you go with any of the major suppliers you list, you'll be somewhat disappointed.
