When I tried to rez it the first time, the sandbox gave me a message saying I didn't have permission to put things of that type there. I had no idea what it meant, since it was a public sandbox, so I tried rezzing the box again, thinking the message was just a browser glitch---and then my non-copy item vanished out of my inventory, never to be seen again!

I then rezzed a less important, copyable item and it appeared just fine. What's going on here? Is there any way to get my non-copy item back? (I wouldn't complain except said non-copy item was a storage box filled with a bunch of merchandise that I had bought.) Please please tell me this box isn't gone and lost forever!

Ask the owner for another and explain to them what happened, or lie to them and say you never got it > MWA HA HA

I had that happen to me once too, but a different situation.
I had an altered version of my hud worn, I was going to drop it to pick it up because at the time dropping it and then putting it in my inventory was the only way to update my scripts, idk something wrong with the script server....
anyways I dropped my hud and the sim deleted it instability, because supposedly the return time took into effect from the first time i dropped it, to the last time i dropped it... lost a good bit of code.

Sometimes a clear cache can restore stuff. LL have been doing a good load of updating and have already recommended to not rez no copy items during this time.

If it's a new item, then yes the merchant might be your best option.

The box did appear back in my inventory after a few hours (well, TWO copies of the box did, actually. Don't know what to think about that.) So that's no longer a problem. What IS a problem is that random things have been vanishing from my inventory. (I'll post a different thread about that since I don't think I'm the only person to be having that problem lately.) Thanks for the help everyone!

I have been getting the same messages on my own land, telling me I can't rez there and the objects I try to rez dissappear forever. So think there is something going very wrong with SL somewhere!

I've had three different objects from three avatars go missing after only a few seconds.

All on the same sim.

I'm not sure if this is a server or asset problem.

Yea, I've gotten that a couple of times. I rarely rezz no-copy items anymore though thanks to this and the recurring delete on rezz bug so it wasn't much bother.
