My Mood: SL Join Date: Dec 2007 Client: Firestorm | Clothing layers not updating I think this may have been asked before, but I couldn't find it so sorry for asking again. My partner keeps seeing pieces of previous outfits on me from the day before, like shirt or pants, even though on my viewer they are displaying correctly. This has started happening over the past few days. We have tried the usual things - me going into appearance, relogging clearing cache etc. It seems like some layers just get 'stuck' on me and don't get rebaked. Any suggestions? Thanks.

My Mood: SL Join Date: Dec 2007 Client: Firestorm | Chalice, we spend 90% of our time in our own sim and always log on there (we have a Homestead). We have both tried using different viewers, rebaking etc. Sometimes if I strip all clothing off it seems to help, though not always. And the problem seems to be just on my partner's viewer, not on mine, although I can't say if other people would have the same issue. And, of course, it is not consistent but happens frequently enough to be an annoyance. Thanks. |

My Mood: SL Join Date: 20. January 2007 Client: NaCl | Well, actually the problem sounds to be on your side. Let me elaborate: When you change clothes, the following steps happen: 1. Your viewer loads the individual clothing textures 2. The textures get displayed, to you, on your avatar 3. Your viewer starts to 'bake' the individual textures into a single one 4. a) On LL viewers before 2.0 and some third party viewers without 'clothing protection', the people around you also get those individual textures and display them so they can see clothing changes faster before your client finishes baking. b) On 2.0+ LL and on Emerald and other third party viewers using 'clothing protection', those individual textures do -not- get sent to others. Other people have to wait til your client finishes baking and sends out the bake, the combined textures, to them so they see your new clothes. 5) when your viewer finishes baking, it uploads the bake and other people receive it to display it on your avatar. Now, given that your friend does not see your change of clothes but you do, it sounds like your viewer gets the individual textures, but somehow they nor the bake make it to your friend. This can have a few reasons, really: 1. There -is- the possibility of your friend's viewer not loading the texture for some reason. The best way to verify is to get a second person in the sim. If they also don't see the change, it's not your friends viewer. 2. Your client isn't sending out the individual textures (as I said, normal with 2.0 and Emerald) -nor- the bake (this shouldn't happen). The reasons for that..well. Are one of those randomy mystery things that happen and SL blesses us with. It can go from the sim hiccuping (hence why I asked if this happened always in the same sim) to some strange viewer messup in the configuration/debug settings. My first suggestion is to restart the sim and see how things are afterwards. My second suggestion is to log out, and manually empty your cache folder. check your viewer cache settings to determine the cache location. Relog, let everything including inventory load (do not do inventory searches to speed things up while the sim is still rezzing in). See if that fixes things. My third suggestion, if that fails, is to uninstall Emerald, and remove the c:\documents and settings (in vista/7: users)\username\appData\roaming\SecondLife folder. Make sure to save the logfiles under SecondLife\Logs if you want to keep them. Then do a clean reinstall of Emerald. you will, sadly, have to redo your settings, but it just might fix the issue. Also, what version of Emerald are you running? I personally by now suggest running the beta, as it has a better codebase and several bugs fixed: http://modularsystems.sl/box/Emerald...1.4.0.2270.exe You just will have to update it whenever we release a new beta, for the time being. |

My Mood: SL Join Date: Dec 2007 Client: Firestorm | Thanks for your help Chalice, I'll try all your suggestions. At present I am using Imprudence, but the problem also happened with regular 1.23.5. I can't use 2.0 as it gives me headaches |

My Mood: SL Join Date: 20. January 2007 Client: NaCl | Ah, sorry about that :3 I was mixing up your post with somebody elses, in reference to reinstalling 'Emerald'. Yeah, replace Emerald with Imprudence in the third suggestion, the same steps apply. I can't quite remember if Imprudence offer the clothing protection functionality, but if it also happened on a plain 1.23 for you, I doubt it's Imprudence's fault at all. |

Mostly Harmless
| A trick that sometimes works is manually rebaking (cntl alt r), hit it several times. SL has been slow with Emerald on textures due to the protection feature.

| Hi there, Thanks goodness someone else is have EXACTLY the same problem as me. Not that i am happy you are suffering but i thought i was all alone with this problem. I have raised this with SL Chat Help several times and the only way they could get my clothes right was to log in as my avatar! The results did not last, however, and after three of four these requests from a weirdly dressed me, they had me log a Ticket. It was beyond their level expertise. So here I am .. waiting ... waiting .. waiting ... sigh. It has been 3 or 4 weeks now and my mismatched clothes are playing havoc with my avi's self esteem To fix the problem SL Help had me try all of the following. Didn't work for me, well not permanently anyway, but might help you (fingers crossed): * Clean SL and my PC's cache * Defrag my PC * Log in at "Aqua" where rezzing is supposedly quicker/better * Reset my sim * Go to Advanced/Character and do the Character Test female (this did work a couple of times, though it was only temporary) * Rebake * Try other viewers. I found i have the same problem on SL1 and Emerald and it is FAR worse on SL2 - where it cant find any saved outfits at all and sets me up in a newb skin and clothes ... ewwww. i gave up trying after all those viewers. Good thing is ... if it is happening to you and me and maybe others, it sounds like a client bug or maybe a server thing (dontcha just love blaming servers for everything?) I'll let you know when/if they look at my Ticket. Maybe you could log one too and cross reference to my name and logged Ticket? Cheers, Carmsie |

Business: B5IV Roleplay Client: Firestorm | I wonder how long the "Aqua" sim will last as "perfect rezzing spot" if LL support tells everyone and their dog to login at that particular sim. |
