My Mood: | How to Post An Event on the SL Website HOW TO POST AN EVENT ON THE SL WEBSITE: In order to get it to appear inworld and on the map (the starts marking events) do it at least 48 hours ahead of time. Go to the SECONDLIFE.COM home page and log in Go to COMMUNITY > EVENTS > SUBMIT NEW EVENT Click I AGREE to the Event Posting Rules. Do read them once, however ![]() Fill out the form: - - - - - - - EVENT NAME: choose a catchy name DESCRIPTION: you get 1024 characters. Things you need to fit in that are what the event is, who is hosting/DJing it, if there is a contest theme and what the prize is. Catchy is best, so be creative. Do NOT use all caps. Also, no need to include a SLURL unless you find you can't choose the location you want (see below). DATE: self-explanatory :-) DURATION: events cannot last longer than 3 hours. Given that we do sometimes have 4-hour events, what you do is post it in two overlapping posts. You may NOT post more than 5 events/day CATEGORY: For most DJ'ed events, go with Nightlife/Entertainment. If you have live music, post under BOTH categories. COVER CHARGE/AMOUNT: self explanatory. LOCATION: This is the trickiest part of the whole thing. You get a list of locations you can use, a collection of land you have ownership rights on, plus public areas. Read Close and choose the right place you want to have the event MATURE EVENT? I always choose yes, if I am on a Mature sim. You cannot choose a Mature event on a PG sim. - - - - - - - Click SAVE, and it's posted! Immediately go check it to see if all the info is correct. Remember, it's SL, and mistakes happen :-) You can edit it if things such as location, time, or DJ/Host change, or if you come up with a better blurb. |
