newest release = memory hog???

since the last "forced update"

I've noticed everything bogging down in SL to the point where I have trouble moving at times (and especially on some visually intricate SIMs).... in the past when that happened I would check the Windows Task manager and find which program was memory hogging my computer, occasionally it would be something else, if SL was above 250-300,000 I would restart the client (it usually hung around 175,000K on the task manager)...NOW.... when I get that bogged down feeling and check task manager, its 800-900,000K..... erm?!? At startup the regular viewer is running at about 350,000K....So... I downloaded Emerald.... and it runs about 50,000K hotter than the standard client... but mimics the same behavior all around

what's going on? Has anyone else noticed anything?

i often wonder the memory most people's SL clients "consume". i also wonder what their computer specs are when compared to mine..

but anyway.. for at least 2 years now SL (the "official" client) for me has "hogged" at least 500,000k of memory.. and that's pretty low. For me it averages (with the official client - both the RC and main release - and now emerald) at about 700,000k (but can go upwards to 1,000,000k if i let SL run for several hours and am in a avatar-heavy area)

so hearing yours averaged under 300,000k seems shockingly small to me. It makes me wonder if you have less ram or more on your actual computer. i wonder.. is your computer better or worse than mine?

dunnO!

but anyway, i don't know enough about computers to start an official poll ~

but anyway, this is my long winded way of saying 800,000 sounds "about right" to me, for my system and last 2 year SL experience

~
Note: that's with me running SL graphics up as high as they can go (which is how i pretty much always run it). i can get it to use less ram if i crank the graphics way down.
