The first time I rezzed a house, and it was one with the rezzer box, I rezzed it on top of a platform that I was using to nivel the ground. So the rezzer box went beneath that platform, and I never thought of looking for it, so I edited the house and the doors went the other way

Then I decided to unlink it so that I could link the doors, bad choice, because I had very little experience with that. The house was mod and no copy (now I know better than to buy like that). Lets say that I ended with something really odd, and had to buy another one.

Everyone here is throwing so much stuff at you that your not ready for just yet. I can give you two pieces of advice that will make your SL much more rewarding and all around better.

#1. always sit on the blue poseball. Unless you want to get really frisky and switch it up.

#2. Never let joshua nightshade "show you something" on webcam.

These 2 tips are invaluable and will have you enjoying SL for a long time to come, with your masculinity in tact, and without the knowledge that will forever have you asking yourself....."Do I need enzyte?"

Dontcha love that? Or when you accidentally slide something over the sim border, and if there's no 'next sim', your selection disappears, only to re-appear at some *other* location...

@Robert: I had a good chuckle at your expense after you 'found your avatar again'. But I have this advice: camera controls. Learn all about them. Own them!

I'll join the others here by saying that if you're ever struggling with a build and need help and I'm logged in, just IM me and I'd be happy to help.

Also, I first learned about SL from the Ivory Tower of PRIMS, it is a fantastic place and I highly recommend it.

Robert: Any time you can't see your avatar, press the ESC key twice. That will re-focus the camera on wherever you are.

Robert... just don't get in to retexturing quite yet, OK? Or only on copies of things.

Not that I'm referring to the day I 'retextured' an entire building with (really bad) sequined fabric because I hit the wrong texture from my inventory.

Oh, and don't drop textures onto people if they are standing close to you and them move. Or you may get your very own zebra-skin building. Fortunately, the owner of said building was quite kind and put the building textures back. When he stopped laughing

Sometimes I'm glad I'm not a newbie any more (although I do miss the degree of excitement at finding stuff out that I got at first).

I really can't stress the camera controls enough either. your keyboard is your friend on this, forget the mouse when you really really want to look at stuff. if you have a book, there should be something in there about camera controls, read it, memorize it, live it.

Especially when you start moving stuff around, the first time you put something underground, you'll know what I mean. I tried to explain the camera to a neighbor because she had a vase under her floor, and it's a hard concept to get right away, it takes some time and practice. Seriously, you might just go to a sandbox, rez a cube and practice moving it around, up and down, zooming in on it, looking at it from above, below, etc.
