Need some quick cash?

Post your suggestions for obtaining money for groceries, rent or whatever, in a pinch.

Here's mine:

Go through your jewelry drawer/box/safe and pick out all the 18, 14 and 10 carat gold jewelry that you never wear anymore or is broken, dented or otherwise unwearable. I did this last week and got $275 dollars for a handful of old rings, broken necklaces and ugly old earrings.

I kept anything of sentimental value but I was fairly ruthless with everything else. It provided us with groceries, gas and money for refilling prescriptions.

For years I've had the practice of not spending my change.

It goes in jars when I come home.

Has saved my butt a couple of times -- a regular wine bottle holds about $60 in mixed change

The ingredients for Methamphetamine are cheap, the process to make it is easily found online, and the potential for profit is excellent.

Not only will you help yourself, but you'll help the local economy.

I'm a big change saver too. I have a little bank I got at the dollar store in Canada that when filled is 40 bucks.

Last weekend I started clearing my house out of stuff I really don't use or need (I'm a pac rat and have to much clutter), and stuff that was to big or not worth using ebay for I took to the auction house that I go to every weekend anyways normally just to buy. They auction off for a commission. Last week I made 173 bucks which feed us all, paid for our gas and got us through the week. I'm taking a new load up in the morning. You can do that at a lot of consignment shops too.

That's really smart. I need to set up extra saving accounts and never touch them in case my husbands company goes under.

I'm about to sell my comic collection. I can no longer justify carrying a couple of hundred pounds of paper around. I'll let someone else pack it from house to house. That should get me a bit.

I've done the change saving thing forever. We're back up to around a hundred bucks or so on that front.

I thought about being a man hooker, but my wife is opposed completely to the thought.

I was also considering being a research test subject, but I hear the insurance sucks, and I don't want to glow or pee ice cream.

It's always good to have some money tucked away for when you need it. My mom taught me early about stashing as much as you can afford. She is a wiz at saving without having to sacrifice too much that affects your day to day life.

She also taught me, sometimes it is good to get away and take some of that money, and enjoy life. I Love her. =)

Donate plasma. I get about $60-70 a week, depending on the special at the time. It is enought to make sure we have food for the week, plus a little extra.

I actually am a test dummy.

Since I can swallow swords I have the ability to withstand student nurses practicing putting in esophageal tubes. They get instant feedback from a live subject. it doesn't hurt and I make about $500 a day. Problem is I can only line up one every other month or so at best.

I do endorse being a subject for any medical testing you can fit into. These are very easy and have strict safety protocols plus you are helping to advance medicine and science while making an extra buck. I second the plasma donating thing too.

I also replace plasma at an incredible rate...but I would never take money for it...I donate plasma to the local childrens hospital every other month.

And it is not good to for *your* body to donate so often.

ETA: I did not mean to sound snobbish for those who do it for cash to eat.

My blood pressure/pulse has been too off kilter for them to take plasma from me :/

Other note: It's usually best to have someone else driving.

They are actually really strict about making sure all your levels stay normal while you are donating. They test all your protein levels regularly. Other then the slight scarring where they keep poking me, I haven't had any long term effects. Also, they replace most of the fluid they take out with saline. I haven't had any side effects yet.

Look for online for marketing research companies and sign up. I get called about once a month and generally qualify for a focus group once or twice a year. The last time I qualified I showed up on time but didn't make the pool. I got paid $135 for sitting in an office for about 15 minutes. If you do make it into the focus group they usually last only two hours and you get paid anywhere from $40 to $75 an hour for simply giving your opinion.

Here is a link to Delve Marketing Research.

Before my back got wacky from a car wreck I used to pick up extra bucks from Day Labor places on weekends.

Hours sucked, it was pretty horrid stuff, but it was quick cash cause they paid that day. Being a native English speaker usually got me indoor warehouse jobs if I got there early enough

It also gives me a low opinion of those that say "it's jobs white people won't do anyways" with respect to immigrants. Damn skippy there's white people willing to do crap jobs.

Understand,

I started donating plasma for my sons best friend who was dieing at the time (at 6 years old), at first I was donating blood, then they saw my plasma levels, so ask for that instead.

I've been donating plasma for over 10 years now, for other kids I may never meet.

Damn, went of topic again...sorry

I've only gone as far as change hoarding. During a very bad time it did feed me for the two days when I had a cash issue.

Under normal circumstances it takes care of my jeep fare. My train fare doesn't come from there though.

I would not have survived if not for 99ΒΆ Only Stores - Home - The Right Store... Now More Than Ever!

Every store carries a little different stuff, so check out different stores if there are multiple ones in your area. They carry fresh overstock produce (at least they do in LA) and I've seen lots of organic and gourmet items depending on the location; ask the clerks when they get new shipments in because you won't get the good stuff if you go on off days. I literally survived on $10-15 a week for months by shopping here. I also noticed that they take food stamps (though I've never gotten food stamps myself), so it's a good place to really make limited resources stretch.
