Paralympics

I'm in the stadium waiting for the ceremony to start. Very exciting to be here as the crowd fills up. Can't wait to feel the atmosphere when it all gets going.

I'll be waving if you're watching! Hehe

Channel 4's stream was crap for the main show at the start. Once the teams came in it got better. The commentary though.... Its just gopping....

Good lord this must be what being American feels like...

Edited to add :

Until tonight I have never heard a commentator of any sort remark on an athletes tied back hair... Did Channel 4 watch NBC and say 'Hey thats great commentary! Lets do that!' or something? :|

Wow... that was an impressive spectacle. And the roar when team GB came into the stadium!

Yes we did all bite apples! hehehe.

Sorry the tv commentary was crap. I have to watch it on 4od and see what i missed. It all looked pretty impressive while you were there. The atmosphere was incredible.

Just got the kids into bed. Really late night for them, they were so good too I better get some sleep work in the morning! urgh.

Yeah, I was rightly worried about channel 4's coverage.

Orin, couldbe Yue, I'd love meeting you at some point as well if you don't mind. Fancy a pint?

The US has one of the largest teams. The whole spirit of the games and speeches last night was about inclusion and changing peoples perceptions for the whole community about inclusion. Many of the competitors from many of the countries are ex military, harmed in service and overcoming their disabilities. I find it hard to understand how this isn't a great idea to show on TV in any country.

I feel sad for the many committed individuals from the US i see talking on here in PRS that are frustrated by the slow movement of political and media agendas that overlook and deliberately ignore stories like these. these amazing events that endeavour to publicise and help overcome the lack of inclusion in our communities of all abilities.

It was interesting to note how few commentary boxes were occupied in the Stadium last night. I wondered why... and now i have a better clue!

Channel 4 is getting a lot of criticism over their Opening Ceremony coverage.

Pleased that Channel 4 decided they needed to employ at least one decent presenter by poaching Clare Balding from the BBC. Just a shame they didn't import more of the BBC's team.

At least they have employed Aussie Adam Hills in their light-hearted wrap-up programme - that was a good move.
