Most of my online time is spent running a hockey league inside SL. We're non-profit, don't accept paid advertising, and charge nothing for residents to attend games or participate.

To reach out to other communities and do our small part to enhance the idea of community in SL, we started "adopting" out our teams for other active SL communities. There's no money involved on either side, just interaction and community promotion.

I approached Cristiano and he has "adopted" a hockey team for SLU! The team is the SLU Ice Lords. I am sending him a box this week with free jerseys and team flags, which you can ask him for (or just drop me an IM) and any SLU member is more than welcome to come to a game and have a good time cheering for their team. The Ice Lords is a wickedly strong team this season with a fine chance to win the season's Global Cup. They are currently sitting in 2nd place.

The hockey teams are also available for your community to help with any event or promotion you like. We have had a good time with this idea and gotten to meet a lot of great folks and hope it can do the same for everyone else's communities that are involved. The other communities involved so far are:

We do still have a couple teams available for adoption, the Mammoth and Blades. If you're part of an active community and interested, let me know. We do require that it's an actual community, not a profit business, as this isn't for business/money.

Just an update, we're off holiday break as of tomorrow, and the SLU Ice Lords have a couple games coming up this week. Would be cool to see some SLU-ers come have fun and cheer them on! The team is still in 2nd place, with a potential to jump into 1st before regular season is done!

It's free to attend, the league is 100% non-profit. I have free SLU Ice Lords jerseys if anyone wants one, let me know.

Some good news and some bad news on your hockey team, SLU!

The good news: They won the season! Clinched the Cup in Game 6 last week.

The bad news: I just had to kick out 75% of the team for being Drama Ho's.

But more good news: I'm putting Ann O'Toole in charge of the team for next season, so you can expect some better things. I haven't told her yet.

If you want to solve forum disputes there, I might recommend the Cleary Arena locker room, way back in the left corner by the drinking fountains. That is where we keep Cristiano who is holding a spiked whip aimed perilously at a cage where Ann O'Toole sleeps. It's sort of sexy.

Don't go in the 2nd floor bathroom at Cleary, though.

I regret to inform you all that your SLU Ice Lords team came in dead last this season, with a suffering record of 3 wins and 21 losses.



On the plus side, they are now competing in the highly esteemed consolation series which is aptly named The Toilet Bowl. Grand prize is first pick in next season's draft.

Free games are tomorrow at 6pm SL time and Saturday at 3pm SL time if you'd like to come cheer them on (or flush them, as the case could be!).
