It would be nice to see 26 without a tie. But I agree with you, they shouldn't dwell on a streak that contains a tie. They had better be playing for something more than a regular season winning streak and by the looks of them, they are.....

Wow - down 2-1 with 2 outs and 2 strikes in the bottom of the 9th, and Cleveland yanks out a win. 22 - now the longest win streak in MLB history, save only the equivocal Giants record.

Aside from the winning streak thing, Cleveland actually clinched a spot in the postseason with this game. With 15 games left to play and 56 losses, the most losses Cleveland can end the season with is 72; and right now only New York, Boston, Houston, and Minnesota have fewer losses than that. So at the very absolute least, Cleveland is wildcard 2.

Awwww - what a shame. KC edged out Cleveland to win 3-4 tonight, ending the winning streak at 22.

Still though, that was some of the most excited I've ever been about regular season games. I read somewhere that Cleveland's pitching staff picked up an AL record for strikeouts along the way, but I don't know the details. Ah well. Can't wait for the postseason again this year!

Still, Cleveland has had perhaps the strongest finish to a season since the 1951 NY Giants tied up the Dodgers and forced a playoff. It's high time the Tribe's championship drought ended.

It will be interesting to see how the Indians do over the next 8-10 games. Teams coming off big winning streaks usually struggle for a week or so after the streak ends.....

This is an article (ironically enough) from Royals Review from last year which documented how teams fared after a minimum of a nine game winning streak or longer.

https://www.royalsreview.com/2016/8/...-a-sungwoo-lee

Just my opinion, but I'd say Cleveland is fortunate the streak happened when it did because it looks like there is just enough time left in the regular season to weather an average or below average stretch, keep the #1 seed in the American League and bounce back strong for the playoffs.

In addition to the article, which was written in 2016, take note of how hot the Dodgers were earlier this season and how they are doing now. I'm not saying Cleveland fans need to be concerned and I'm not taking anything away from their accomplishment. Twenty-two straight in today's game is fucking ridiculous and they didn't just squeak out wins, they absolutely dominated teams for almost an entire month. But, if I was an Indians fan, (and I most certainly am not) I'd keep this in the back of my mind, especially with the playoffs right around the corner....

Playoffs are here. NL Wildcard game tonight. Just want to throw out my predictions for the rest of the way.

Arz beats the Rockies tonight
Arz beats the Dodgers 3 games to 1
Washington beats the Cubs in 5 games
Washington beats Arz in 6

Houston Beats Boston 3 maybe 4 games.
Indians Beat NY in 4 (that was painful)
Houston over Cleveland in 7

Houston over Washington in 5

And there it is. That's how I see it. I hope I'm wrong in one particular series....

Boston Red Sox manager John Farrell won't return in 2018

I think I'll call them later today and apply.

Dead in the ALDS! At the very least, Cleveland is reliable for winning the maximum number of games possible before losing a series.

Oh well, have to settle for Division Champs this year.

They had a really good season and are totally set up to be right back here next year. The Encarnacion injury really hurt them......

Meanwhile, it's on to Houston. Yanks will be huge underdogs again

And this version of the Washington Nationals have STILL never won a playoff series.

Good game to watch though, especially if you didn't have a dog in it or money on it.

meh, I always saw him as an interim manager anyways. I'm surprised he lasted this long.

I can't wait! I don't really have a stake in either team winning or losing; for a change I'm just going to enjoy the series however it unfolds.
