That is a decent plugin, but not for my purposes. I may look at it as a replacement for the lightbox script I do use on Snapzilla though.

I've been in the same position of registration confusion as Arilynn twice over the years, and may also be registered but don't know it. I shall try to register again to see where the tripping point is and report back.

I recall Flipper's web vending system (OnRez, was it, wasn't it called something else prior?). If OnRez had a single registration point on the grid to link my UUID with my external identity, it would have been far preferable to the hoops that Snapzilla wanted me to jump through. The odd thing is that they weren't, to my recollection, difficult, they were just lacking some essential "yes, you've completed this successfully" confirmation. For someone who has been working on Snapzilla with the dedication you have, our frustration with what must seem a perfectly obvious process must seem absurd, but we've got at least three reports of people who can successfully operate SL, but got flummoxed on Snapzilla registration.

I recently became impressed with the stupid simpleness of imgur: the simple image sharer which has distinguished it in my mind as easier than tossing photos into a shoebox. I don't know how much it relies upon HTML5 (which I would consider an unreasonable burden on the SLU users), but there is probably an idea or open library or two there worth borrowing.

It actually uses Flash. I am in the process of developing a new image uploading page to replace the current one - but there is nothing I can do about the process of sending directly from SL. I have been checking out a bunch of sites for ideas. Thanks for the suggestion.

I wish I understood what these unreasonable hoops to jump through are. You register on the site with your avatar name as step 1. To link it to your account, you simply send any picture whatsoever to register@slpics.com from SL. The subject, picture, or anything else does not matter. It uses it to tie the two accounts together. I will look at possibly removing it altogether, but the second step is to prevent being able to spoof accounts.

...has something to do with this?

If photos aren't transfering properly for some people, that could be why step 2 of registration isn't working. Just a thought.

Two small suggestions; Malachi recalls correctly, but I actually improved upon that. When I made the events listing system, all people had to do was rez a single prim. When rez'd, it would prompt them to create a password on a random channel, and then create the full account for them. After creation was confirmed, it would llLoadURL with a hash, which would automagically log them in for the first time.

The second suggestion is actually a jQuery plugin I just started using yesterday for slideshows... check it out, it has all kinds of fades / transitions, and is ridiculously easy to set up:

JQuery Cycle Plugin

Highly recommended, first one I've found that I really like. I admire you greatly for continuing to run this, Cris. Trivia is still running, but I haven't touched it in years. People still seem to enjoy it, at least.

Regards,

-Flip

Could you please send one of your postcards directly to me at cristiano@sluniverse.com? I can't think of any reason why they would not work for you. Yes, the address is pics@slpics.com . Actually, when you send one to me, also take a second picture and send it to Snapzilla at the same time.

That is a great plugin, but not really for what I need. I need a more traditional image gallery, with thumbnails browsing. I've found one but I am having a few CSS issues with it (have I ever mentioned I hate CSS?).

Any chance of making use of the horinaja library? I love the scroll wheel functionality it provides. Sadly I don't think it offers an image thumbnail feature off the bat.

horinaja for scriptaculous or jQuery

O hai cat mask!

Very cool outfit Brig

It's been a little while since I used Snapzilla but it's no fault of yours. I used to use it as a LOTD thing and document some of my outfits, since I usually don't save or remember what I've put together. I'll have to get back on and give it a look to see if I can think of any improvements

I love Snapzilla. I like the random picture in the sidebar because I can click it and remember old times. I like the albums (though I don't use it as much as I should). I like that I can link it on my blog (which I do). I really like the editing function. I like that it's way easier for me to remember how to use it than Flickr is. Seriously can't think of anything else I need. Usually my pictures go through from SL, sometimes not, but overall I'm satisfied. Thanks for Snapzilla, Cris.

I sent the one to you, and I sent three to Snapzilla. Only one of the Snapzilla ones went through. That's one more than I've been able to send lately though, so I can't complain

I'd love to be able to search within my photos.

I'd love to have some easy took for backing them up to my drive

I'd love to be able to leave Flickr-esque "notes."

You can already do this:

1) Click on View My Images
2) Click the Search icon on the snapshot list
3) Check the box that says "Search Only the Snapshots Below"
4) Fill in a keyword, a sim name, or a date range (or any combination).
5) Click Search

For example:

I pulled up this picture of Aimee Weber I took in 2006 by searching my snapshots for Aimee in the sim Pooley:

Sorry this is a bit late, but how about some way to make a live panel or slideshow for a given tag (thinking mainly about adding to posts to the SLU forums)? I could do it with albums, I suppose, but it might be nice to be able to do it with tags. My apologies if this can already be done, but I didn't see a way to do it.

There was one gallery whose organization I really liked, several years ago. It showed 3 "strips" running vertical. The first strip would be the owner, the 2nd strip would be a representative image for each gallery the owner defined, and the 3rd strip would be each photo within the gallery. There would then be a large blow up area for the individual pictures selected from the gallery (3rd strip). Maybe you could work in backlinks as well so if someone selected Free's "SL Prom night" gallery then all owners who had a "SL Prom night" gallery would appear in the first strip.

Here's an example of what I mean. We see 3 users (Alex, Bill, & Chris). I've chosen Alex's set of galleries which are house, friends, and dance and of those galleries I have chosen house. On doing that, I can now see that Bill and Christ also have a house gallery so I might want to explore their house snaps in a minute. Of Alex's House gallery snaps, I have chosen pic2 and that is enlarged.

Of course this is a bit simplistic, and you'll probably want to add a permissions layer, etc, etc.

So long as we can still search and get a bunch of thumbnails.

Oh, and please don't copy Google's new infinite scroll image search.

(and I use portrait mode browser windows so I don't like sidebars, but I know I'm an outlier)

Not a feature as such.. but an idea.. Cristiano, you suggest a theme ...then we have a week to take a photo in world .. the photos get submitted with a tag or something to a certain album, and people can vote on them.. comp winner gets i dunno .. their pic announced as a winner... not necessarily a best of .. but they won the comp... this time its based on everyone voting.. could be fun..
