Arrow Help Wanted: Ad Sales

I make this plea every so often, and I am trying it again. I am looking for someone in Second Life who is interested in selling ads on SLUniverse.com. It is a chance to make excellent commissions and does not require a big time commitment at all. It is a great way to earn extra money in SL.

I do require that you are very familiar with the content creator and overall business community in SL (particularly fashion). If you are interested in the position, please contact me via private message in the SLU forums. Serious inquiries only please.

I don't get how ad farms can find people to advertise... and we can't.

Have you tried posting in the official SL classified forums? And ad for ads, so to speak, and really sell the place in the post.

Also, have you tried placing an in-world classified? I bet that alone would create a lot of interest.

Also x 2, may be contact bloggers direct to offer them commision?

how are accounts debited? impressions? clicks? what kind of conversions does slu generate? if its more that a few, consider giving a few big merchants a one month trial.
can merchants run multiple ads based on a single account? can a merchant log in and check their clickthrough count and ratio? if not this would be a great selling feature.

continue to do as youve always done, and you will continue to get what youve always gotten.
the information is dumped out on the page and leaves me asking questions. try putting the information into a table and the holes will become apparent. for example, for my $4000 how many impressions should i expect? how many weeks in the rotation will that $4000 buy me? is it two? cos its not actually specified.

I'm extremely disappointed they way LL has handled classifieds in-world now and thinking of different ways to go about this now.

Okay, since I over-estimated your capacity to read, let me lay it out for you. Never again will I think you smarter than a four year old.

Cristiano made a (what I understand to be conservative) statement on the traffic the site gets monthly:

"Want to advertise your Second Life business or event in front of a targeted audience of more than 1,000,000 visitors a month?"

Then he explained rotation levels:

"* a medium rotation ad for 2 weeks will be displayed approximately 15,000 times based on current traffic levels"

Beyond that, in the pricing column, he says:

"2 week top banner ad pricing (for individuals/sl businesses):
low rotation: $1000L
medium rotation:$ 2500L
high rotation: $4000L"

Seriously, did you even click the link, or did you just decide you'd respond derisively off the bat?

Any further information you want really depends on you and your ad campaign. That's the nature of display advertising. Cris can only do so much, ultimately your ads are responsible for the rest.

I mean I only work in display advertising for a living, so what do I know.

i dont care how my page refreshes slu has, i want to know how many banner impressions the $4000 high rotation package will get me, and that is not specified.
i do not care how many impressions a medium rotation package will likely see, i am looking at the high rotation package.
id also like to know how many weeks in rotation $4000 buys me.

see?
youre expecting me to trawl over the page a few times and perhaps break out the calculator on the assumption that $4000 worth of impressions is related to $2500 worth of impressions.

As to my pricing schedule, if you are somehow out of the loop on where I work, demanding I let you into my real life isn't inspiring me to change that.

Post a real life photo.

Actually, it is specified - it says very clearly the rates are for 2 weeks, with the exception of a couple of the ads. which are specified to be 7 or 1 day ads.

The advertising software I use tracks unique impressions - if the same ad is shown to the same person 20 times in a session, it counts as one impression. You are not charged per click or per impression.

The pricing is based upon rotation level and position, not exact impression numbers. The top banner ad is shown more places than the side, so it is more expensive. I just checked on the performance of several recent ads, and a high rotation top banner from February 1 through today has had 30,000 unique impressions. A side banner for 30 days on high rotation had 12,000 uniques.

i am suggesting we compare the method your employer uses to present sales data with tha method you are defending here on slu.
it pertains.
