Exclamation Today's Outage

I apologize for the forums being unavailable this afternoon. It took hours to diagnose a problem that was completely unexpected.

What was the problem that was completely unexpected? All this week there have been really strange problems. Are you having trouble with customer service with the hosting provider, are you having problems with cPanel? Can you please be more specific so these outages this week make a little more sense?

I've run my own forum since November (before that I did the ProBoards route which doesn't really count), and I've learned pretty quickly what some of the problems can be, although I do phpBB instead of vBulletin, which lets me mod it to my heart's content.

If there's anything I can possibly help you with, please let me know, or if you need help from others that you already know have worked the backend of vBulletin, you shouldn't hesitate to ask for help. I'm sure that MANY people here would be willing to help you with this.

Anway--thanks again for having this forum available.

Fmeh,

I haven't been dealing with the problems alone. They were a variety of things, honestly, and have been resolved, it just took time to diagnose them. Most of it has been weirdness with MySQL and PHP that has taken some work to resolve through trial and error, even with very knowledgeable people helping me. This is not a Linux installation, it is Windows. The Snapzilla move took all of 15 minutes and went without a hitch. Anyway, thank you for your offer to help. If I need it, I will certainly let you know.

FYI, the last stage of the move is happening on Saturday, where the website will be moved to the new server. So far, only the databases have been moved. I am going to get everything set up beforehand, so it will just be a matter of repointing the sluniverse.com domain. Since it is staying on the same host, it shouldn't mean any downtime. I have to do the move in stages to avoid impact to Snapzilla.

Best User Title

Good job, Cris.

And, just to let you know, I have been working hard in my new capacity as secret resmod, keeping these hooligans in their place while we adult persons carry on with business.

I think the lack of title was a great idea, btw. No one even suspects!

Actually, IIS is not the problem - none of the problems I ran into had anything to do with it, and Snapzilla, which is ASP.NET/SQL Server runs flawlessly. I can't stand PHP, the only reason I use it is for this forum.
