Lightbulb Forum sponsorship

I am adding a new advertising option on SlUniverse to help SL members promote their businesses in front of a wide audience. In addition to normal banner advertising on SLU, I am now offering 30 day sponsorship for individual forums within the SLU forums for $3,000L.

For example, you could sponsor the New Users forum or Content Creation. On the forum listing, it will says Sponsored By: <your company> with the name linked to a SLURL or website. This message will also appear at the top of the individual forum when you go into it.

Stats for the sponsorship links will be available as well. SLU has over one million visitors a month, providing excellent exposure for a great price.

For more information or to sponsor a forum, please contact me via private message.

when a company sponsors a specific forum, will only their banner ad show in that forum? or will they be "sponsoring" ads for other companies in their forum?

I'd like to see an example of what this would look like.

I think this would be a good incentive, Cris. Rather than just text and a slurl?

I'm testing it out right now and adjusting the formatting - I also need to put it into the blue skin. As far as it blocking out other ads in the particular forum, the ad system is separate from this particular feature. I will see if I can figure out how to offer that as an option in the future, it will take some reprogramming of vbulletin.

Ah ok, would be nice if it showed up in threads in sponsored forums as well. Up top, where the forum hierarchy is. And maybe in newposts search and iSpy when it lists the forum?

I will do what I can, remember, this is a plugin for vbulletin, so I can't do much beyond what it already does without a lot of extra programming.

There is nothing wrong with the host -it is a PHP problem I am still trying to resolve. Also, what scrollbar/ I am at 1024X768 right now and don't have one.

It's been a while since I messed with PHP.INI on IIS. It's never been as stable on ISS as it is on Apache, and Linux helps too. All I could suggest, off the top of my head, is to make sure the cache and session data is clearing as it should (Perhaps its too persistant).

The problem I am having is just on the PHP side - Snapzilla is alive and well at the same time, in another application pool. As soon as I recycle the worker processes for the PHP application pool, the site is fine. It seems something is not letting go of resources. I just set it to recyle more frequently - we'll see if that improves performance. Going to Apache/Linux is not an option.

It is because you have your start menu on the left hand side, so it is less than 1024X768 available to the browser.

I was talking about the PHP cache and session store, it has it's own, I didn't mean whatever IIS has built in.

Looks to me like while she has her startbar on the side, it's not taking up window space (Notice the window extendes beyond it to the left). Perhaps the SLU Logo on the top left is just a few pixels (Like 15-20) to wide?

I understand - I have just noticed there is a direct cause/effect between it hanging and resetting the worker processes - it restores it instantly, so I am checking that route. BTW, how much memory should I have allotted to PHP in the INI file?

Oh hush about IIS - funny thing, the site has run beautifully for 2 years as a pure ASP.NET site under a million visitor a month/12 million page view load- it was not until I also added PHP that I began to have problems, and even then, it is just the PHP side - while it is hung up, the ASP.NET side is alive and well.

As far as scrollbars, I can try lowering the size of the logo a bit on there, but there are no scrollbars on the dark skin - I don't use the blue one.

IIS & PHP (These are old but worth a look)

http://bugs.php.net/bug.php?id=28524
http://www.userscape.com/helpdesk/in...=kb.page&id=20

That reminds me, you're running PHP as a CGI as opposed to an ISAPI aren't you? Is there a reason for this?
