I'll say, if you could guarantee that "all the banner ads seen in the sponsored forum" were ones the sponsor dictated, I think you'd get a lot of interest. Without that, I think that this sponsorship deal rings pretty hollow. I mean no offense to you Cris, but "Second Citizen Refugees, brought to you by Eclectic Randomness" isn't really worth that kind of cash, at least not to me. If I can pwn the banners in that forum, then yes, there's an incentive worth some cash to me.

Yeah, I agree with Winter on this, Cris. I don't know how much of a hassle this will be to code but I tend to use new posts and ispy anyway and could easily miss that tag. The banner would be the selling point. Tags like that tend to be ignored, just text.

The pricing for high-rotation ads is different than it is for just a sponsored link here.

http://www.sluniverse.com/php/index....id=advertising

Thirty days on either rate would net about double+ the cost of thirty days as a sponsored link. I think that when you factor in the cost of Cris' already pretty fair advertising rates with that, it's a bit ridiculous to expect sole ads for a rate less than his most dedicated advertising rate.

Maybe, Josh, we are trying to help Cris by giving feedback so HE CAN MAKE MORE MONEY?

Well it doesn't look that way to me. It looked like Winter was complaining that if the sponsorship doesn't include full control over the subforum ads then it's not worth it to her. I was pointing out that it's less than the cost of a high-rotation ad for 30 days with the added benefit that at least you're guaranteed to be seen, and more times than at the high-rotation.

Cris said that the ad systems are totally separate and as far as I know not aware of specific subforums. For that to change would involve a lot of work if it's possible at all.

Winter's comment didn't strike me as feedback so much as "If it can't do this, I don't want it."

Josh, Winter is a potential customer. Not a fangirl. She is responding to an offer and explaining why it does not appeal to her. This may or may not be helpful depending on how many agree with her take and whether it would be worth the effort to code the thing to do that.

That is up to Cris.

You know, the way business works.

sign me up Cris. I think it's a pretty cool idea. Especially since I am a sucky graphic person and couldn't design my own ad to save my ass...

I also think that while I and a few of you use only New Posts and Ispy, that a lot of posters who log on here once or twice a day, take an actual look at the forums. So for the little amount of Lindens, I would love the exposure.

This is the thing, Jess. The tag is a direct slurl. Now, I may be curious about what Anomations is, but not necessarily enough to log on to SL and visit. Or stop what I am doing and go there. Just on a name and the fact that they paid for sponsorship.

Like, if it's too much of a hassle to do the banner thing, maybe a link to your SL shopper page would be a better deal for some people. I would prefer that, actually, it would show people my stuff and there is an slurl there if they want to visit.

Edit to add, yes I know what anomations is, just using it as an example.

I see your point. Which is great... except, unless I'm wrong, in order to see that, like in my signature.. Id have to post often and at least everyday.

No, I meant the link for the sponsorship would go to your SL Shopper listings, instead of to SL. As an option.

Who said anything about being a fangirl?

She posed a request. Cris responded. I commented.

Are you able to respond to anything I say without being snippy or should I seriously just never talk to you ever again? Being civil to you is a labor of love, good christ.

Man alive, you have no idea how ironic this post is.

Maybe if you tried being civil to Winter and myself instead of acting like we were ingrates or whiners, when we are potential customers, this little argument would have never happened, eh?

I guess that is too much to ask.

I've been nothing but civil to you (and to Winter, whom I have never had a problem with before, ever, and whom I like) despite you being nasty.

Please don't make me play quote chicken with you. Preceding post alone, implying I'm Cris' fangirl and thus my input is irrelevant. Implying I know nothing about the business world and thus my input is irrelevant. Furthermore implying I don't have a pretty decent grasp already on how Cris' adserver runs, I mean given that I am only running ads here and work for an internet advertising company in RL and everything.

Rude. Unnecessary. Unprovoked. Unappreciated.

You know what Josh, I have a question for you.

Of the two of us, who is continually told to shut up, grow up, back off and in general found extremely irritating by many people?

I will give you some time. No, your opinion of me doesn't count.

Now, maybe the whole world is wrong and you are just right but I kinda doubt it.

You aren't helping Cris by coming into his thread to smack anyone who doesn't speak nicely to him, in regards to a business matter.

Let him mind his own damn business and you take care of yours. From what I've heard you have had almost every profession known to man, you must be very busy.
